What I got from this article is the progress of where addiction researchers are currently. As of now there are the two theories as you mention. The problem with the disease theory is if it was a disease, there would be medicine to cure. Although there are lots of diseases out there that don’t have a cure. I.E. Parkinson’s disease.
The problem with the learning theory is it doesn’t explain why some get addicted and others don’t.
I didn’t think the article in any way gave the idea that there is only one model. It simply was saying here is what we know, but here is what we don’t know. Research will continue and perhaps other theories will be discovered. Do you have any theories?
I have always loved psychology. Our minds are amazing and I love learning about it.
