Fredo

Starting a new chapter in life and overcoming the struggle of multiple addictions one day at a time. So far I’m 4 months alcohol and weed free but have minor setbacks with other addictions and its feels good that I’m not the only one going through it and there others that can relate.

As a teen I smoked pot from time to time which wasn’t a problem until I turned 21, I started binge drinking occasionally and experimenting with new drugs. As a result, those decisions led me down a path of self destruction in just a few short years. Losing everything from jobs, friends, money etc.

June 10th 2017 was the day I decided I needed to change my life around, after having a Near Death Experience from a near drowning in the river due to severe alcohol and drug intoxication. Although I have little recollection of what happened, last thing I remember we were smoking, drinking and taking a few shots before everything faded out and I nearly drowned. Next thing I know I wake up in the hospital 3 days later after being comatose and nondependent, I was completely clueless of what had happened.

After the incident I was abstinent until I was prescribed pain pills and got addicted to using them but once they were gone I had slipped and relapsed.
The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward.
