My name is Elijah Gonzalez I’m 26 years old I’m from San Jose California I’ve been using heroin and meth intravenously (shooting). December 2019 I was rushed to the hospital not knowing what was wrong with me if I knew it was bad. I had endocarditis a heart disease I was days away from heart failure my whole body shut down on me. February 3 this year I went back to the hospital after relapsing I was completely incoherent on the brink of death I had to have open heart surgery or die. I have been in recovery ever since my surgery we t great I’m on methadone now clean for 5 months no longer homeless and loving my life now.
