Alcoholic approaching my 90 day milestone one day at a time. I experienced a relapse after 1 week of detox, 2 weeks rehab, and a year of therapy, meds and meetings. I am grateful for my experience because it has blessed me with the clear understanding that recovery is NOT through osmosis. Just arriving at therapy and meetings and being present doesn’t make recovery work. Just like sitting in a church, not listening and daydreaming is not considered faithful. Getting help is giving help. Taking action in recovery causes a greater reaction in healthiness and happiness. Finding a homegroup, getting a sponsor, doing the steps properly at a slow and steady pace has been proving miraculous results to me and others. Being connected to others sharing a common problem on the road to recovery is an amazing and blessed real miracle. Recovery has not only helped heal my Alcoholism, but my anxiety and character defects as well through the grace of God and the support of his other loving children. One Day at a time, I ask God to guide me under his wing to a healthy and happy life and to help others as I need that help as well.
