By the grace of God, I’m sober today.

And I want to be very clear about something right out of the gate:

• It is not my willpower that keeps me sober.
• It is not my intellect.
• It is not my ability to explain things well or talk my way through you people.

It is a loving God, a fellowship that did not give up on me, and a set of simple spiritual actions that work whether I agree with them or not.

If there is one thing I have learned, it is this:

• I do not get spiritual credit today for what I did yesterday.
• Yesterday’s prayer does not carry over.
• Last week’s good intentions do not protect me this morning.

This thing only works, one day at a time.

Oh Dat
