My addiction was getting fucked up. I just loved going as far down that rabbit hole as I possibly could. My drug of choice was opiates/opioids.
I’ve done it all man - vicodin, percocet, oxycodone, morphine (pill and liquid), fentanyl, and heroine. I’d almost always wash these drugs down with alcohol. When I was popping morphine consistently I was up to 300mg a session. I’m a big guy (6’3" 220 athletic) and I’ve always had a high tolerance, naturally. I believe that’s the only reason why I never overdosed. Although, there are 2, maybe 3 times, where I feel I came pretty close. Besides smoking crack/meth, I’ve done every other class of drug.
It was always difficult for me to address the issue regarding my drug use because I was still functional. I had a job, paid my bills, maintained relationships with friends/family, etc. I’m a line cook and virtually everyone I worked with knew I was using drugs. Even my boss. They didn’t give a fuck - as long as I was doing my part.
That was then. I’ve been clean for almost 21 days. Another week and I’ll break my record. I’ve finally reached a point in my life where I’m content with sobriety. I miss getting fucked up, don’t get me wrong. I don’t miss, however, the withdrawals, living paycheck to paycheck, the brain fog, etc. It all gets old after a while.
That’s my story, anyways. I wish you all the best on your road to recovery. It doesn’t matter what your drug is, or why you use. With time, sobriety gets easier. Don’t dwell on the past or worry about the future. Remain in the moment the best you can. Have love and compassion for others, as well as yourself. Live life to it’s fullest.

Alcohol (mainly vodka) - 13 months (relapse) then 33 days (relapse!) now 10 days.
If I go waaay back… “sex” addiction. Mainly strip clubs, and even a few escorts, ugh shameful stuff. Lost track but I stopped about 5 years ago, after many attempts, - unfortunately I replaced it with heavy drinking.

Mainly alcohol, cocain, amphetamine and weed but also pretty much anything that got in my way when drunk or high.

Alcohol cocaine plus dabbled with over stuff ( no h/c ) since i was 13 im now 41 clean 50 days and thats got to be the worst night sleep ever

79 days free of alcohol. Many years ago I would use weed and/or whatever was around.
Lesser issues: I can be a compulsive spender (on hobbies mainly) and spend too much time online.

@xmarkvsx Alcohol and drugs I’ve been sober for 27 years. I am clean but I have a serious problem with kidny Stones. So every now and then I and in the ER being shot up with pain killers. Then I have to go through withdraws every couple of months. And it sucks but I keep praying.
