1 year of soberity

Hi,

I go by the name of Danny T former alcoholic & on February 16, 2026 I hit my whopping milestone of 1 year of soberity from alcohol! I truly have never felt happier than finding myself again after all the haze wore off. I’m proud to say that, I’m happy with the person I see, when I look in the mirror.

I’ve taken the year to really reflect on the person I was & put all my energy in becoming a better version of myself. While, also trying new things I was always afraid of doing (stand up comedy) & going out of my comfort zone frequently.

I don’t take any pride in how much I used to drink but, to those that feel like it’s impossible to quit, need a drink the moment they wake up, or always need a drink to drown out the pain. I’ve been there & it’ll never help. Please, don’t ever feel your alone in your battle there are always people that’ll understand how you feel.

All we can do is, take it one day at a time….

Congratulations on your one year of sobriety Danny T! That’s like 409 days today, which is also amazing! Definitely a big accomplishment, and amazing that you are happy with the person you see in the mirror nowadays!

Getting out of my comfort zone is still difficult, but generally worth it in the long run. Exposing myself to manageable levels of stress helps me build up my capacity to handle more, something I think is very beneficial for any addict/alcoholic. I’m glad to hear you are living a life true to who you want to be and that you are trying new things, even if they are scary.

Thanks for sharing a bit of your experience, it’s a good reminder for me that I’m not alone. I’m looking forward to seeing more updates about your sober journey :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::call_me_hand:
