Hi all. Just opened this app for the first time in a few years. Thought I should contribute to a community that really helped me find a way out.

The good news is, after a while, with a bit of training, you don’t think about alcohol anymore.

I suggest the Alan Carr Easy way audio books to learn how to train the brain. It’s about smoking, but the principal is the same. It starts with being absolutely convinced that alcohol does not help you in any way.

Good luck to those searching for a way out of the trap. If I could do it, anyone can.

Happy to hear from you Mike, and congratulations on your 1734 days! That’s awesome

I’ve heard about Alan Carr’s Easy Way book before, for sex addiction recovery. His strategy has been applied to a bunch of different addictions. If it works, it works, right? :slightly_smiling_face:

100%. Alcoholism is mostly psychological like most additions, such as gambling and sex. There is a chemical element in there, such as adrenaline, etc. But these are things that we can control with the right mindset. Our brains are huge muscles we train throughout our entire lives with education and repetition. We can turn off any impulse we want with enough practice.

Unfortunately most people go head on without understanding what’s actually happening when we address these addictions.
