1st day on the journey

Brand new here, just starting my quest for sobriety. I’ve been drinking for 16 years, it’s been more than a long time coming for this and I’m very much excited to be a part of this community, to gain knowledge and support through all of you.

Thank you for the warm welcome, this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I know there’s a long way to go, but it’s comforting to know I’m not alone.

Nope…you’re not alone. Congratulations!

644 days for me. I started drinking about 38 years ago. It gets much easier as time passes.

Hang in there. And welcome to the chat.

@Ragnaron Ron thanks for sharing your early recovery with us. You’re definitely in the right place. Have you tried any 12 step meetings? They have in-person meetings and virtual meetings you can attend - if you want i can post the links for the meeting times/locations.

wish I was there to go with you to your first one.

Have you ever tried quitting before?

wow I didn’t know there was still folks on here for that long. Encouraging to see, I really enjoy TS.

Nice job @MNfast ! I agree with you as well, time accumulates quickly once we stop using.

Hello Ron and welcome to the TS family
Have a good look around the forum and just dive in whatever topic interests you. You’ll meet great people on here and whatever is on your mind someone is always here to listen. With a community from all around the world, no matter if it’s the middle of the night for you, someone else will just have their lunch break.

I hope to see you around

Thank you, I’ve been talking with some people I know who’ve gone through all of this and I’m definitely going to be going to a few different meetings here soon. Thank you

when’s soon?

keep us updated on how you’re doing man, we’re in this together.

I’m planning on Tuesday of next week. I’ll definitely give updates, Thank you. I’m looking forward of being a part of this community, can already tell everyone’s genuine and happy to help in any way.

Well, please don’t blow it off. You’re so close to the solution, that’s all. I’ve done that before, i’d use to think… ‘I’ll go next _____’ bullsh*t.

Not saying you are but i used to rationalize my butt right back out of the help I needed. Or the day would come and I’d say to mnyself I’ve been able to stop for this long, I don’t need help. Or I would finally get my life kinda together and I’d say to myself, I deserve one more _____.
