20 days , getting harder

That is when I really start wanting the Stuff. I am teetering on a cliff. Tired of physical pain, emotional pain…and Mr. Al K. Hall is calling, making me think how nice it would be to have an evening of relief, no matter how even worse I would feel the next day. I feel like I am swinging on a pendulum…so I decided to hang out on here for a while…

Would ODAAT work, committing to not drinking tonight and taking it from there tomorrow morning? Things are brighter once the sun’s up :sun_with_face:

Hi. Stop and think what would happen if you choose to drink. You are sober right now. Might be tough today but you will feel so much better if you don’t relapse. Sending you strong positive energy!

Still haunting the forum. This fight is hard.

Great decision coming here! I lived here in the beginning. Every time you say “No!” to an urge it gets a little bit better.

Besides coming here, is there anything else you arw doing to enhance your sobriety?

My roomie decided to go on this journey with me. That helps. Plus, there is a doll for me, which she is keeping, and some lovely boots that she loves for her, which I am keeping. If we go for two months sober, she gets the boots, and I get the dolly. But if we fall off the wagon, she will give the dolly to one of her family, and I will gift the boots to one of my friends. I will never see that dolly again, as she is discontinued, and she likely will never see the boots. Boy is that ever an added incentive. I want that dolly. ^^

Good for you to have such a supportive friend and extra incentive. Sure as hell it can’t harm!

But neither of these things is going to keep you sober, guaranteed.

Think of it this way: youre not addicted cos you lack dolls and friendly support. So how could these things make your need for drink go away? As long as alk has an apparent function in your life, you’ll crave it and likely relapse.

You need to start working your recovery. Immerse yourself in what recovery means 24/7, learn as much as you can and start engaging w yourself on a meaningful level, discover and face your Whys, your pains. Make alcohol useless for you.

Resources for our recovery

I posted this list before. Idk if you’ve picked any resources yet but I highly highly recommend it. Pick em, work through them, then pick new ones. Same as meetings of some sort.

Recovery works if you work it. It won’t just happen. Good luck!

I agree. It is just a little treat for each other if we make it the two months. Today the thought of alk is repulsive, but that has happened before and I know my work is not over. Thank you for the resources. Out of all of those that I can afford, I will try all. Thank you ~
