21 days sober - trying to keep it up

Hi everyone!

I joined this app a few days ago, and I’m still figuring out all its features… I felt such a huge sense of relief when I realized I’m not the only one going through this.

I’m addicted to weed. I’ve been smoking for over 10 years now (I’m 36). My husband and I actually met because of weed, and we’ve been smoking together ever since we started our relationship.

21 days ago, we decided to quit for the sake of our mental and financial well-being. We went on a trip to a country in Asia where all kinds of drugs are strictly prohibited, and that helped us take the first step.

Yesterday was a really difficult day. We came back home, and we still had quite a lot of weed left, so we decided to burn it all in our barbecue grill.

I cried. I felt so much anxiety and sadness because, deep down, I realized how much weed had helped me cope with loneliness, pain, and how I had used it to numb myself just to get through life.

Now I’m trying to learn how to live without it. But I have to admit that what we did yesterday affected me much more deeply than I ever expected.

We turned it into a little farewell ritual, and my husband is really committed to quitting. I’d even say it seems a bit easier for him than it is for me.

It’s been hard. I miss smoking. I miss that feeling of instant relief. But at the same time, I know I’ve been stuck for so long, both emotionally and professionally, and I really want to grow and move forward.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and connect with this community.

We are brave!

Sending you all a big hug. We are not alone. :people_hugging:
