25 days down the drain

I went 25 days without drinking. Now I’m back to day one! Feeling pretty bad about myself. Any advice?

Pick yourself up and get back on the sober/clean train. The only thing you can do. Well, you could look at what led up to the relapse and try to see if there were any triggers / patterns that you can be aware of in the future. Anyway, welcome back and keep fighting!

Thanks. I thought I could just have one glass of wine. But it turned out like it always does. Way more than one glass. And hiding it from my family for 3 days.

One is too many, a thousand not enough, as the AA saying goes. It really is true for me. But realising that the first drink is the most important actually makes it easier. Sober me can be more rational and controlled. One drink me will happily start to believe my own bullshit. So I never have that first drink. It took me years to figure that out though.

Some good advice hear. You can also :mag: relapse at the top.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
Well not the t-shirt

But…those 25 aren’t totally gone! It’s 3 steps forward en 2 backwards, means still going forward. Do not give up!

Glad you’re here. That prooves you are willing to change. Changes are needed and for most of us that includes a lot of big changes.
We even have to change the way we think.
I had to learn how to do that and did it trough trial and error. Being here and being active learned me a lot about my addiction. I tried to incorp all the tips in my daily life. The ones that worked I kept and the others got to go.
I made a sober plan with some that worked in it to give me structure. I will share it here so you understand what I mean:

Maybe make your own sober plan?
It can be really helpful!

All the best! :raising_hand_woman:

Welcome back to the community, @Sally1, sorry to read you relapsed :disappointed:

Sobriety is liking learning to ride a bike, you just have to get up and try again until one day it ‘clicks’. Don’t give up trying!

(This message is going to be totally useless if you don’t know how to ride a bike )

Welcome back Sally and great work on getting back in track with day 1. Relapses suck and that moderation thinking is a trap many of us have fallen prey to. Learn from the triggers/ thought pattern and push forward with strength and motivation. You can stack up the days again :muscle:t4::muscle:t4:. Keep connected :hugs:
