Hey Duncan, what are you struggleing exactly with?

I teach at uni level in a language field, in Spain. Depending on where you are and what your specific trouble is, I may or may not be able to help. Have you got a course tutor, a Dean of Students…? They and their teams generally have duties of pastoral care, and might be a good source of help.

Pretty much everything.

There’s a councillor available…

Hmm, that’s not very specific. Are you struggleing with sobriety, studying, the universe? Can we help you? I know that here university is only online and I can only imagine how that must suck.

Are you struggling with:

  • time management / workload management
  • emotion processing (feeling overwhelmed, incapable, etc)
  • relationships (either academic or personal): for example, communication & coordination with your classmates; or, on the personal side, relationships with family
  • etc?

What’s causing you difficulty, specifically?

The University of Otago has advice for first-year workload here:

https://www.otago.ac.nz/first-year-students/ready/workload-guide/index.html

And they have a Student Success team with a wonderful page of resources - and you can contact them for support (I did that with the student success team when I was in uni; it helped me a lot - you don’t have to do it alone: you’re never alone):

Your university certainly has a similar team. Check your uni’s website & you’ll find it :innocent:
