5 years of ODAATS… some seemed impossible, some were effortless. Plenty of misfortunes, deaths, illnesses and downtimes. That’s life. Sobriety doesn’t make you immune from life, but it sure hell makes it easier to navigate.
I couldn’t string a few days off sobriety together a little over 5 years ago. My drinking was way out of hand, I’ve written plenty here about it. Life was fucking hard, unmanageable, full of lies and dread.
All I can tell anyone new to sobriety, chasing the seemingly impossible, is that it’s very possible. It comes with work, not words, or intentions. You have to invest large amounts of time and effort. You are worth it… it is worth it. A day will come where the fight isn’t as hard anymore. Keep working, even after that day comes because we cannot let our guard down.
I once heard the saying “you’re either working on recovery or relapse”. It seems to be true, stay vigilant. Wishing you all the best. Let’s stay sober together.
Congratulations @Dan531 !

Wishing you better times than worse times in your life, wishing you happiness!
You’re amazing Dan!!
You’ve been through a lot, lately. It’s just life though, isn’t it? It is very impressive watching you on this journey dealing with whatever life throws your way. I’m so glad to be on this journey with you.
Must be time for a new tractor to celebrate the milestone.
It’s been great to travel along this sobriety journey with you. Your shares, commentary, support and humour are beneficial and inspirational to all members of TS. The greatest positive impact, I’m sure, has been to yourself and your family.
Crack on, champion!
