6 days clean

I’ll have 7 days tomorrow!! Longest I’ve been clean in 8 months. Well, my boyfriend was supposed to get sober too and he’s been hiding drinking from me every day. Has no money for bills yet somehow manages to get money for alcohol, every day. It’s a hard realization of what’s really been going on the last year and my eyes are open to who he really is. Sad to unfortunately admit to myself that his sobriety isn’t a priority like mine is and unfortunately I will end up having to leave. I was clean 2 years before I met him and it was fun until… well, it wasn’t.

Truth: We don’t have to or need to get fucked up anymore. Glad you’re here and living life differently, with sanity! Stick around please as it does get better. Just not all at once, but better is - better!

7 days is huge, congrats! And I understand how you feel about your boyfriend’s drinking. I was like him when I was married to my second wife and she wanted to live sober, but I didn’t. So we divorced and as a hindsight, it was better for both us. But I hope you’ll find a way to deal with your bf without breaking up. But in the end, your sobriety should be number one because we have only one life (as far as I know), so it shouldn’t be wasted. All the best, looking forward to see you in here! Stay strong!

Congrats on your 1 week of sobriety :tada: :tada:

I’m sorry your BF isn’t committing to his sobriety. It is not an easy road and sometimes we do need to cut ties with friends/ family and lovers when our sobriety is in jeopardy

Welcome to the community! Hope to see you around and celebrate many more milestones with you.

Congrats on your week  I’ve been thru similar situations. I tend to lose myself in relationships, or at least did while I was drinking. I was 10yrs clean from cocaine before I met the last guy, then poured it all down the drain for ‘fun’.

It is possible to stay sober living in those conditions, but it also enlightens you to things you’ve been blind to, as you’ve realized. When you believe walking away is the only option to protect your sobriety, you gotta do what you gotta do girl :muscle: The only person responsible for your sobriety is you.

I love that passage too @MrMoustache  It reminds me of what I went thru to get where I am today. It all happens for a reason.

It’s sad to realize you have to leave to stay sober, but Jails, institutions, and death aren’t good alternatives either. Sometimes our Higher Power has to close a chapter in our story to begin a new chapter with more hope and a happier ending.

Thanks Lisa,

Typical old timer didn’t notice the painfully obvious date. Lmao
