79 days sober but having strong urge to drink

I have nit had this strong of urge to drink since thanksgiving. I dont want to drink and I will not do it but putting it on here helps me relieve that feeling somehow. I keep thinking that i could just go and get some vodka and no one would know, the wife is out watching friends dogs tonight. I feel it will relax me after all this hard work, that damn addiction brain kicking in. I have been doing so well, i guess that goes to show my urge can come at any time. I will not drink and i will wake up tomorrow and be sober. My addict brain will not get me anymore!

Good for you! Kick it’s ass. 79 days is a great achievement and you’ve come a long way. You’d feel terrible in the morning. Congrats to you for being strong. I’m on day 10 and hope to be were you are some day! Keep up the good work. Tell that addict brain to take a hike. :grinning:

Yes, it reminds us, doesn’t it? Normies don’t get those sudden obsessive thoughts to drink. You’re doing great @Gibb . 79 days is a great inspiration to us. Drown that bastard with a cream soda…lol.

Congrats on 79 days!!! I’m at 72. I’ve had a few rough days but remember it will pass. I find binge watching movies or reading distracts my mind. There is no physical addiction left so it’s all about getting your mind off it. I also find that an AA meeting really helps when I am really craving a drink.

Amazing, congrats, almost 3 months! The cravings go away, promise:) xx

What you are feeling is to be expected especially if you drank daily in excess toward the end. I urge you to reflect on those last 60 days leading up to your decision to make a change. Chances are, you were miserable and it’s important to remember those times when contemplating a drink. Go to group meetings and listen for similarities in their experience strength and hope. You can do this One Day At A Time. I’m 11 years sober today. Lili

I’m only on day 9. But you are giving me hope xxx. Well done.
