Hi everyone, I’m new here and on day 8 of my sobriety journey. While my doctor has me on naltrexone to help with the cravings and B vitamins for various reasons its still very challenging.
The first week was a challenge. One of the reasons was trying to work out what to do with the time I used to spend drinking.
Health reasons and knowing that I was risking my career are what motivated me to take the plunge.
Any advice, hints or encouragement would be appreciated.
Welcome to TS friend! And congrats on making it through your first sober week, that’s huge! As for advice, I feel you’re doing an excellent job so far. Getting professional help. Seeking peer support here. I’d say keep going.
Maybe one thing you could do is read/listen/watch recovery related stuff. What’s addiction? What’s recovery? How to go about it all? It’s not easy. But totally doable with the right knowledge, the right support, the right mindset. Keep going. You’re doing great.
Hey proud of you for 8 days sober! Amazing . Be here everyday for support from all of us, do online meetings as many as you can in early days to stop the insane thoughts and think about why you are here. Maybe find a face to face group to meet like minded people to support you on your new journey. Keep going one moment at a time
Glad you’re making the plunge! It can be daunting, stressful, anxiety provoking, scary, and painful to quit, but from personal experience the long term benefits of being sober far out weigh the short term feelings/relief alcohol provides!
Good luck, and reach out if you need support! Im sure there are a few of us that would be more than willing to listen if that’s what you need!
