Such good work Kelly. I too got my cholesterol from 7 odd to within an acceptable range.

The stats that tell me the most recently after a couple of relapses over the past few months is from my fit bit.

After drinking, my heart rate variability and resting rate can be OFF THE CHART BAD. literally it’s in front of you looking close to atrial fibrillation… Then it goes completely back to normal and good as soon as I remain sober.

Sober is good kids. Proud of you Kelly :raised_hands:

Thank you @Tragicfarinelli well done to you too!! I think i might invest in a fit bit you know …thats such a good idea! My cholesterol was 7 something too, i hope ive managed to get it down when i get re tested, they said January so i think il call the drs on Monday see if i can get my retest booked back in

Yeah, my Drs referred me to a Lipid clinic to oversee my figures.

To be honest though, I knew I needed to do some decisively important things:

Stop drinking
Stopping drinking then stopped the gorging on high fat high carb items late at night in an attempt to soak up booze.
Stop takeaways
Use less oil
Switch to Plant Sterol spread, no butter unless a treat
Cut off animal fats before cooking
Eat a shit tonne more veg
Drink loads of water
Move more.

Fit bit for me is super interesting for my vitals and also my sleep and period tracking. So it’s more to me than just a fitness aid.

It sure is, cant believe how badly i treated mine and for so long

What a great share! It made me so happy to read this :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: kudos to you for looking uncertainty and fear in the face and then DOING it ANYWAY. I’m so very happy to hear that your health is in a good place! You’ve reminded me that I have to get a physical done very soon.

My husband got the high cholesterol talk from the doctor…so in the last week we’ve been shifting our diet (high cholesterol runs in my family too). In my drinking days, I would have spun and spun and spun about what could be going on inside me, leading to anxiety, terror and stress, so your post really rang true for me.

Facing life head on is what this is all about. Congratulations again

Thank you so much @ELY83 your words mean alot…i read something on here once about the thing your the most uncomfortable facing is probably the thing you need to be doing so this is it in action…its been uncomfortable to say the least …its horrible getting and waiting for results for things especially about your health but those little bits of peace of mind mean so very much…if you dont have your health right? Im motivated because now i actually give a shit about myself but also because my daughter needs me around.

I feel like sobriety has made me more confident, stronger and resilient to be able to face these uncomfortable things in life but most of all its because i have this community in my pocket for support whenever i need it which for me is absolute gold, i feel like i can get through anything with this kind of support and the skills ive learned to get sober i can also use in other areas of my life…like ‘one day at a time’ can be used in any stressful situation, patience, perseverance, knowing that ‘this too shall pass’ so many things ive learned…these days i feel like a fully fledged adult lol even better than that these are skills i can also share with my daughter as she grows up…it really is the gift that keeps on giving
