A very analogue Christmas...AND NEW YEARS!

It’s a great album! Glad you did this today. Makes me want to revisit some tunes from my youth.

In the queue! Fantastic and often overlooked album. Great call.

Thanks Tomi - it was CDs for me too originally, when I first discovered my passion for music 20 years ago. Hundreds of cds. They’re in one of those cd binders somewhere, but no idea where. I often wonder if they’ll come back into fashion someday like records have.

Cocteau Twins are fantastic. I’ll add Treasure to the queue…it’s ideal weather for Cocteau Twins today

12:50pm: Alice In Chains - Jar of Flies EP, 1994 // SAP EP, 1992

For @Dejavu: from Seattle, to Seattle, via MA. Merry Christmas!

Cool thing about this release is that it’s Jar of Flies and Sap EPs combined, so you get the 4 tunes from Sap as well. JOF might be the best EP ever.
Since Sap is only 4 songs, they didn’t need the D-side, so there’s a really cool etching there instead.

I’m glad to be doing it! It’s been a great cure for not knowing what I was in the mood for, and even more, it’s got me pulling some albums off the shelf that haven’t seen a play in a long while!

I have a plan for when I hit 365 records (I’m at 299), and that’s to listen to a different album every day for a year. 365.
After that it might be time to “cull the herd” a bit, lol. The majority of the records I have meant something to me at one point or another, or have memories tied to them (truth be told, with varying specificity I can remember when/where I bought every single one) – but there is definitely a handful or two that it’s like…“ehhh, probably never listen to that again” :yum:

Mr Bungle - Mr Bungle (incredible on so many levels). A very young Mike Patton getting John Zorn and crew to work on this album is amazing. Demented carnival music at its very best, with such light, shade, menace, sadness and joy.

Jane’s Addiction - Nothing’s Shocking. Perfection.

Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters. Because it’s freaking amazing.

1:55pm: Bob Marley & The Wailers - Legend, 1984

For @Fireweed - Merry Christmas! May the sounds of the islands warm you from afar.

I don’t think I’ve spun this since the day I got it ~2.5 yrs ago…those unforseen remixes I mentioned earlier were such a disappointment! I marked them in red below. I will say, the one of “No Woman No Cry” is actually fine. But I remember at least a few of them being dreadful…not there yet.

This one probably would see more play time if it was the regular versions. I’ll replace it eventually once I find another used copy. You can’t help but be in a good mood when Bob is on.

EDIT: OH DEAR GOD, the “Buffalo Soldier” remix is borderline sacriledge!

Gotta pick one, my man!

But whichever ones you don’t pick, I’ll keep them on the backburner for if I catch up to the end of the queue.

I love all 3 albums. I have a TON of memories from high school surrounding that Jane’s Addiction album. That’s an album that has been a constant in my life for 15+ years now!

If you insist on only one, then I choose Badmotorfinger by Soundgarden.
Feels like something i want to listen to now… In particular the tracks Searching With My Good Eye Closed, and Drawing Flies are in my head.

Geez, Mr. Bungle, that takes me back. Anything Mike Patton really, Fantomas, Tomahawk, you name it.

I mean dude, you’ve got Devo. I don’t know too many people who listen to that.

Done for today, although I know I still have 3 in the queue. Just done with being on the couch! Into the other room…

I’ll finish these tomorrow, and keep adding requests if you want!

Thank you for helping to fill my solitary christmas with music!

This was a great thread Tristan. Thank you for sharing your day with us.

Ok then, unplanned but let’s revive this for New Years Eve. Dreary day, Chief’s still unconscious from his run this morning, and I’ve got nothing to do. So let’s listen to some music.

Starting a bit later than Christmas, and I can’t promise I’ll get to everything, but have a look through my collection and let me know what you’d like to “hear”! Make a choice and I’ll spin it in your honor.

First pick is mine.
Pylon - CHOMP, 1983
Excellent new wave band that emerged from the same scene in Athens, Georgia which produced The B-52s and REM, although they didn’t quite reach the same level of commercial success.
