Just myself and Chief. Look outside, it sure doesn’t feel like Christmas! We’ll touch 60°F today, windy and rainy. Kind of dark still, and no place to be today!
I plan to watch sports all day, mostly basketball, and the idea is to have it on mute and keep music flowing through my place…a soundtrack to this most unique Christmas.
It’s hard to pick music yourself sometimes. So - I thought about it, I know many of us are stuck home today - and I thought it may be fun to have YOU guys pick for me.
I think my collection is fairly diverse, a little something for everyone (or maybe not! ). Throw out a pick (link below) and I’ll spin it in your honor from here in New England, out to wherever it is in the world you may be.
HEADS UP: You can see the album artwork on the collection link. Fair warning, there is at least two album covers I can think of with nudity. I don’t think there’s any openly depicting alcohol or drug use, but haven’t confirmed – so proceed with caution if these things bother/trigger you.
So what do you say? Or, more importantly, what do you want to “hear”? Note, picks do not have to be seasonal or festive.
These have already gone through:
6am: Frank Sinatra - A Jolly Christmas from Frank Sinatra, 1957
Also, let me know if that link is working…it’s pulling up the collection no problem on my laptop, but on my phone browser it’s asking to download the app, without showing the listing.
Tom Sawyer isn’t on the Rush album I have (def on my wish list), but Rush I can do! The album with “Tom Sawyer” (Moving Pictures, 1981) is an absolute dandy. Just haven’t stumbled on a used copy yet. “Limelight”, “Red Barchetta”, “YYZ”…great record.
I like this idea. Spin me some Red Hot Chili Peppers ~ Californication or any other of your choice.
Does Chief have any favorites? We had a dog that howled every time he heard the joker by steve miller band. We like to think it was his favorite but in his mind, it was probably his least fav. lol
Pink Floyd’s Animals and Meddle both have a track each with dogs barking at one point or another…those usually get his attention. I wonder what those dogs from the 70s are saying to him!
Some of my favorite album artwork here, done by Patrick Nagel, whose work can be easily recognized as it’s all in a similar style to this. Very definitive of the 80s aesthetic.
I have no idea what the hell is wrong with my brain, but I woke up this morning with Alan O’Day “Undercover Angel” as my earworm! @anon79808082 will probably remember gettin’ down at the disco (like me!) to that one.
All the specific songs mentioned are on the album I have, so that’s doable! In the queue.
I need to replace that copy of “Legend” eventually though, as it’s some weird version where 2 or 3 of the songs aren’t the originals, but rather very tacky late-80’s remixes. The rest are as they should be, so not sure what wiseguy made the decision to pop in a few dreadful “reimaginings”…you don’t mess with Bob’s music like that!
This is one that sounds tremendous on my setup, the bass parts especially. I remember when this came out, I thought the video for the song “Californication” was SO cool…still is! Are music videos still a thing?
