AA first meeting

I did it, i went to my first ever meeting. I was a bit nervous but soon settled and found myself amongst a group of really lovely people, people of all ages and backgrounds. They were very welcoming and supportive. Im glad i went along. I was given this book for keeps and will scan through later today. 9 days sober.

Heck yeah, friend! So much easier to do life with others who want the same thing. You’ve got a good read from a great fellowship.

Great intro into this recovery program. I found the Living Sober book easier to understand in the very beginning, and I could benefit from reading small bits of it. Back then the BB of AA just seemed so overwhelming.

Little steps first, helped me establish a solid foundation for recovery, still at it 41 years continuously later.

Congratulations! You never have to go to your first AA meeting again. I don’t think any of us will ever forget our very first meeting. Keep up the good work.

We refer to “Living Sober” around here as the Field Guide to Early Sobriety. It’s one of the three books that my home group uses in our tri-weekly meetings, and many people have remarked on how helpful it is.

I’m so happy you had a positive experience!! I was so miserable and ravenous for a drink, I don’t think I heard much. I was desperate and I just kept coming. I’m so proud to say that I got comfortable being uncomfortable. In the 15 years of AA experience I have grown to absolutely love the program. Through success and failures I knew there was a welcoming place to go where I could be safe from myself and my disease. Living Sober is a great reference guide thru new sobriety. Some of it is just common sense. I needed that. The way I drank was nonsensical  Congratulations on that huge step :flexed_biceps::tada::+1:

Of course it is…you’re an alcoholic. Admitted we were powerless!

Drink lots of water, focused breathing, laugh at those voices in your head.

Keep going friend!
