Are you aware that there are adverts for gambling websites?
I’m assuming that you aren’t in control of what gets advertised .
How are you seeing adverts?
I thought as a patron you would be ad-free.
Or is this news coming from other members?
I forget that there are ads on here. Best investment ever.
I thought that too but wondered whether I had to be another level of patron or actually buy something from the online store.
I don’t get them all the time. Just occasionally when I go between counter and forum.
I just paid very early on to get the ads removed as a one-time payment. Was only a couple bucks.

I pay a monthly thing so maybe that’s where the difference is. Don’t know.

And today a casino type site. Which, although I have not gambled, ever, I find disturbing on an addiction forum.

Yes I did the same paid s£2 .50 or be to and I get no ads go to t.s store it gives you the opportunity to do it and it works straight away.also any other new updates you get for free.xxhappy Monday Geo.xx

Sorry that you saw that. The app uses Google’s ads and Google chooses what to show you based on what they think you are interested in. I have set up filters on the advertising dashboard so that certain categories like drinks, medication and gambling are not shown. It’s all an automated system though, so if an advertiser tells Google that something is not gambling (but in reality it actually is), they sometimes slip through the cracks and it gets shown. Not supposed to though.
If you have any more detail on that specific ad I can report it to Google and they should fix the category.
As for the payments:
There are in-app purchases as @AyBee has shown. These are once-off purchases that unlock new features or remove ads. You can purchase the remove ads one to stop seeing ads completely.
Then there are Patron pledges, which is a way to support the forum. It’s a monthly payment that you can decide the amount for. It gives you the Patron title and badge.

I figured that you didn’t have much to do with the advertising content.
It was a Virgin thing.
I’ve done the Patron thing but haven’t done the in app payment as I get them very rarely that it’s not a problem really. I just thought that the gambling one was a bit wrong.
