I just saw a commercial from crown royal called the official water break time. They showed everyone in the commercial drinking a very small glass worth of water and then said to continue drinking alcohol responsibly I find it fascinating that they can create commercials like that. It’s obviously just feeding into our alcohol fueled society. But, it’s also implying that you can responsibly consume alcohol, which I don’t believe to be true since alcohol lowers your inhibitions
Anyway, has anyone else seen any commercials that stand out to them that has centered around alcohol?
I went to the cinema the other day. In the adverts before the film there were 5 ads for alcohol. Hadn’t noticed just how widespread it is until I stopped drinking, and then particularly after reading This Naked Mind.
WOW! Five? I started noticing them a lot more too. I’ve also noticed that even at the grocery store, wine/beer/etc is normally stored in one section, but grocery stores spread it out all over the store, especially at the end of aisles.
I know! One was a cider brand and the ad was focusing on a charity campaign it was working on, another was Jager and it was some people doing something extreme/edgy and the other three were general alcohol/fun times ads.
Also the film was rated 15, you have to be 18 to buy alcohol here 🤦
I wish I had a picture of the billboard I saw for a gas station…“Truckers Welcome, We now Sell Liquor” and this in a Michigan where liquor sales are strictly state controlled.
