Oh nice!!!
Yeah its very fun, and well music is a soul soother.
I meant to comment on your fantastic setup when you first posted. That speaker is beautiful. Do you have another outside of the frame? Also, is that white shell you posted a speaker?
@Yoda-Stevie I’m just waiting for the “CD revolution”. You know, I think there can be something really rich about listening to something on vinyl, but after coming across a lot of the small “suitcase” type vinyl players, I think that the reality of “better” will partially depend on the quality of the sound system. Also, sadly, some new albums being pressed onto vinyl are horrible quality.
There’s definitely something to be said for being able to hold something in your hand and say, “I own this”, but a HIFI digital track played through the proper software and listened with good headphones/speakers and other fun audiophile toys can really blow a person away.
And I meant to mention: I upgraded my car stereo! And the whole car around it.
An Infinity sound system that sounds quite good. 8 speaker, I think? And with all the gadgety goodness of the infotainment system including Fruit and Robot compatibility. It’s great! Keeps a nice clean, full sound even at volume.
Even has built in nav that works surprisingly well, and is integrated with a head up display.
Hyundai don’t mess around with their electronics.
What?? You didn’t want to just get a new car??
But seriously, that’s awesome! I got a little side tracked looking at Infinity’s website. Looks like a nice company with some good products. Also that’s fantastic about the sound quality, even at high levels. I know I like loud music (partially because my hearing is going ), but I hate it when the speakers start clipping or breaking up at certain levels
So with the new speakers you got a whole new display (making sure I understand correctly)? I’m probably about to ask a really dumb question, but it’s been 20ish years since I bought an independent stereo system for my car… Does the display come off or is it built completely into the car? I’m not sure if they still do detachable stereo faces with all the new technology.
Unfortunately, no matter how good the equipment, I am limited to the range and capabilities of my hearing aids. I can barely hear without them. Don’t get me wrong, the sound quality isn’t bad, but there’s digital compression happening with everything I hear, and the peaks and valleys of the range gets clipped off for the sake of efficiency and clarity.
Those are not my speakers! I used to work for them and they flew me out to boston where i took those pics. For a pair of one of those speakers i took a pic of the price tag is about 90,000 dollars. I do have two pair of headphones and a pair of mm1 computer speakers that sound amazing! I never cared or thought about sound quality until i worked there!
Surprisingly, the first release of these iconic speakers was in 1993. They will never not look futuristic.
Yes, I bought a whole new car, lol. And actually, now that you mention it…
In my last car, for a lot of money and some lost functionality, I could have replaced the head unit. It was a standard double DIN with a custom facade. But a 7" or maybe 8" touchscreen display would have worked. You can’t just pop the front panel off those for security like back in the day, but they’re mounted enough it’d be a job to pull it.
But. Now that I think about it. The display/head unit in my new Hyundai definitely is not like that. The touchscreen display itself is a slim thing sticking out of the top of the center column, not on the front of a standard DIN box embedded in the dash. I like it very much and the sound system is quite good for stock. But yeah. I’m not sure if it could be upgraded if I wanted to.
These things are such a baked in part of the car systems these days! Though I have noticed after flashing an update to the infotainment that they have the software smartly separated from the central car systems in a lot of ways.
That is a really beautiful speaker case!
If anyone has an extra 55,000USD lying around, you can get yourself a pair of these.
@Eke I completely read what you wrote wrong and didn’t realize you had actually bought a new car! Good for you though! It sounds like you’re happy with your choice! Really excellent.
@Petr Ah I see! I’m glad you shared them. They’re beautiful. How long did you work for them?
@Yoda-Stevie That makes sense. I can imagine hearing aid capabilities have come a long way over the years though, but still there’s only so much technology can do.
@AyBee Thanks for the link! God, those are beautiful speakers.
I only worked for them(bowers and wilkins) for bout a year. I will say that was the most fun job i have ever had! Unfortunately it did not pay well enough - that is why i didnt stay there. It was awesome to go to work everyday and work with/ listen through their speakers and headphones.
Ah yeah, pay. That thing that drives us to get the job in the first place. Well, it sounds like it was a fun job (pun not intended ).

Just figured I’d upload all my mess missing from the photo is a few guitars. Mics and such and my 15” bass cab
But my work horses,
I bought the Boss Katana after many great reviews and the fact tho heavy it’s compact, it’s not as cool looking as a Marshall stack, but much more convenient to haul and got plenty of sound for a 2x12
The Hartke ldh1000 was cause I was getting a deal on it it’s a pain in the ass to lug around tho. And since I play in a metal band, well we are loud
I switched from an audio interface to a mixer cause my interface clipped even with low gain, and with the mixer I can get more control over my sound, it’s designed for podcasts, but works great for home studio recordings that I’m sending out
I can’t see them. I’m not sure if it is just me or if the website didn’t properly upload the pictures to the post, but this is what I’m seeing on my end from a couple different devices. I definitely want to see what you’re showing off!
Your right it posted wonky
Hartke LDH1000 head with 4x10 cab, for my Thor like thud, schecter bass
A small sample of my regularly used guitars, 2 schecter, 2 fenders the basses are both Ibanez I don’t use those two much I just needed a home for them
Main workhorse, I dialed back to a 2x12 combo still heavy AF, but easier to lug, Boss Katana MKII, I read so many great reviews on it, so I got it with all the extras and can’t complain one but it had me put my Orange head and cab in storage
Audio interface, 4 channel mixer. And presonus bookshelf monitors.
Of course in that smorgasbord mess there’s over the ear monitors a wireless system, a few DI boxes, a cowbell, shure SM58 mic, and the grey bag that’s sitting on top of the bass amp is my main pedal board, tuner, Wah pedal, phase 90 phaser. Small clone chorus, tube screamer, signal booster, metal pedal and a harmonizer,
A pedal board and setup when I wanna go light and use my iPad, and of course miscellaneous guitar picks, pens, cables batteries lol
This is what im working with. Pioneer 9.2 channel 900 watt receiver with Definitive Technology speakers. It’s a nice space to melt into the music!
Those are some sexy instruments you have there! That blue color is just gorgeous on that first one. You have some serious toys. I’m so glad you posted them!
I’m still seriously considering picking up a guitar and learning to play, but I’ve hesitated given my time constraints and also wanting to get something decent to start with. We have a locally owned music store very close to me and I’ve been looking at what they have (because I want to buy local) to offer. Everytime a guitar related post from you or @HoofHearted I think that I should just take the plunge.
Nice set up! Is that a projector screen between your two towers? Also what is that next to your reciever? Is it a speaker? I can’t tell. That’s a really lovely cabinet too.
Yes to both! That’s the center speaker sandwiched between the xbox and receiver.
The projector was probably the best purchase ever! I was debating getting a 70" TV or projector. Both were about the same price at the time. After some research, the projector won. I bought a 120" screen kit on Amazon for about $80.
