Saw Portugese singer Maro play my home court Paradiso Thursday. Loved it so much. Good live music makes life bearable.

Tonight I’ll retrospectively post about my last few gigs in here and the one I’ve got this upcoming week.

I still didn’t post about the gigs retrospectively  I’ll get around to it soon hopefully.

I want to post about tonight’s, though.

It was frikkin amazing, a relatively small venue with a 1k capacity and everyone going crazy, me most of all. It felt like history in the making. It was their first ever gig and they chose to do it in Manchester. It was never gonna be a bad gig because of the calibre of the artists on stage but it exceeded all my expectations.

They played for 70 minutes and they haven’t even released an album yet, only a couple of singles, so the setlist was a surprise to everyone.

Take a bow Tom and Aurora - Tomora :green_heart:

Just gonna drop a couple of snaps in here of last night’s James and Doves gig in Liverpool.

It was so so so so good. Tim is one of the best front men there are and I’m such a fanboy. Chloe is a relatively recent addition to the band and adds another classy dimension.

It was THAT good, I may go to their final date of the tour in Manchester this coming Saturday. Twickets has the goods but do I have the wonga haha!

Special shout out for Doves who warmed up the crowd impressively for 45 minutes.

Carl Cox supporting The Prodigy at COOP Arena - Manchester.

His set was played on a triple deck turntable and all vinyl. He plumped for mostly old-skool from the 90s. It took me back to my clubbing era and all the classic clubs from the north west of England such as Legends in Warrington, The Pier in Wigan, Angels in Burnley, Quadrant Park in Liverpool etc.
He is an absolute master of his craft and unbelievably it’s taken me 35 years to catch up with him on the decks.

I was dancing during his set and a woman close by asked me “What are you on?” meaning what drugs had I taken. I responded with the answer of “Nothing.” and gave her a big smile. I kinda took it as a compliment I must still be able to throw the shapes like back in the day haha. Sober now, though. I should make a tiktok :joy:

The Prodigy :green_heart:

I first saw them at Glastonbury festival in 97 and have seen them quite a few times since.
They were bloody incredible, they always are. We got fairly close to the rail at the front and were constantly lifted off our feet by the crowd surges, moshpits and general great energy from the crowd. I got drenched by people’s drinks a couple of times. Yuck

The energy they bring is like no other, the sound, the light show is all perfection. The only thing missing is Keith  With Keith, The Prodigy were like a happy healthy working dog. Without him they’re like a dog that lost a leg. But that dog can adjust and learn to walk again on 3 legs and do things slightly differently to survive and thrive.. Maxim is a formidable front man and Liam is perfect at creating the sound, and the rest of the band slide seamlessly into the live shows.
A few years ago I watched their comeback tour after Keith’s passing in a relatively small 4k capacity venue. Last night they played and sold-out the biggest indoor arena in Europe.
I’m not gonna say The Prodigy are back, because they never really went away. They lost, they grieved, they grew.
They are the warriors!

Tonight I got to see three bands I’d never seen before!

First was Desire! I got there a little after this duo started so I only caught the tail end, but really enjoyed what their performance! “Under Your Spell” was a really enjoyable!

Second was Carpenter Brut and they put on an absolutely killer show. Start to finish they kept the crowd dancing with some amazing music! “Turbo Killer” was a big hit. They were my favorite performance of the night!

Last performance of the night was HEALTH. I was really happy with their performance, Jake Duzsik’s voice is so unique and intriguing. I was so glad to see them perform “FEEL NOTHING” :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::call_me_hand:

I just gave Feel Nothing a quick listen and I liked what I heard. So I’m gonna take a plunge on the popular streamed tunes for the next hour or so. :love_you_gesture::smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I really like them, I’ve listened to that playlist twice today - plus about 10 other songs. I particularly like the fuzzy, distorted, heavy doom style songs. Great cover of Blue Monday too.
My better half asked me what I was listening to and when I said HEALTH, she informed me that one year they were playing our favourite festival ArcTanGent and we were standing outside of the tent as they played. :joy::upside_down_face:
Ah well, I’ll get to see and hear them properly later this year. :ok_hand:

I made it to a sold out deftones concert

Ecca Vandel opened. They are something to check out.

Interpol was next I didnt stay for the set found a seat to rest before the main act.

Deftones. I went in with the hopes I wasn’t going to see an older band suffering along. What we got was an amazing show and after these years Chino can still rip on the mic! He threw so much energy and a sold out stadium gave him every ounce we had back ive never heard a crowd as loud in that space and ive seen some big name bands in there.

I went solo and spent most of the night talking to random and enjoying the music. I beat my anxiety into the floor stuck it out. Absolutely amazing gig!

I didnt take any photos so here’s a few from a local page.

Great stuff for and from you Trav! The gig I went to tonight was a bit different. Ukrainian quartet DakhaBrakha play folk with a big twist and I loved it. Music that moves the soul without understanding a word they’re singing. Of course the war plays a role in their show. But it was at least as great and uplifting to see a big group of Ukrainian people (they were in the majority tonight) simply having fun, laughing and enjoying themselves.

Saw Halestorm last night. Had an amazing time. It was an outdoor show and there was some light rain a few times, but it didn’t dampen the mood. Lzzy’s vocals were outstanding, as usual.

Amazing, Lizzy is the queen of metal. I saw them at Download Festival a good few years ago.
