Android bottom navigation bar blocks buttons

@Robin I’ve been having problems the last couple of weeks on my Android phone not being able to use some of the app functions because the button occurs right at the Android “back” or “home” key.

In this first screenshot, I can’t scroll to the end of the thread because the Android “back” key occurs right where the numbers are. (Sorry @Mno for copying your post!)

On this second screenshot, I can’t operate the down arrow because it occurs right at the Android “home” button.

Your first issue there with the home buttons covering the “jump to” function. Same here, Android

I find that issue with mine too. I have galaxy s25.

This is what I do to fix that. I hit the power button and the screen goes black. Most of the time when I go back to the app, the issue takes care of itself.

Hope that helps

I made a new topic for this.

@Kareness what device and what Android version are you using?

Could you help me understand the issue better? Are you using button or gesture navigation?

Okay, I tested it on a Samsung and I notice the issue. I can also now see the nav buttons on your screenshot. I’ll see what I can do about this, I’m not sure why Samsung’s nav bar is overlaying while other Android devices are not.

same here with a galaxy s24

My issue on android is that I can only upload camera photos, but NOT screenshots! I have to edit the screenshot first thru a picture programme and resave it to upload it.

It never gets past this stage below…

My phone details:

Thanks for looking into this. I have a Google pixel 7a and have this issue from time to time. It’s like the phone freezes and the buttons cover my home and back so I have to close out app and restart.

Not sure if it’s the same issue or slightly different. Mine had been intermittent since the last update over a month ago.

FWIW, I believe the issue is on newer software versions. I have a Samsung /android with old Galaxy software and don’t have that issue with the overlay.

Doesn’t sound like the same issue.

So I found the cause of this, it’s due to Android’s edge-to-edge interface which lets apps use the entire screen space, with the status bar and the navigation bar overlapping the content when you’re using button navigation instead of gesture navigation. I thought this was handled properly everywhere, but looks like on Samsung with Android 15+ devices it isn’t.

I personally use a Google Pixel, and the generic emulators that you use for development didn’t have this issue. I was able to replicate it using Samsung’s test lab, which lets you use real Samsung devices to test on.

Anyway, I changed the layout to allow padding at the bottom when this happens and the padding’s background color will be the same as the app bar.

I’m just testing a few things for stability, but a fix will soon be available.

I sent the update with the fix to Google Play for review. After this it usually takes about 24 hours for the update to be available globally. Be sure to check when the update is ready for you to download.
