Aniety and panic attacks day 9

Today is day 9 and these panic attacks are driving me nuts. I quit smoking cigs and drinking at the same time. Has anyone else experienced this?

I’ve experienced anxiety and panic attacks but I never quit drinking and smoking at the same time so I can’t say if the combination of doing both is amplifying things or anything. Try breathing really slowly from your diaphragm. Lie down and consciously work through relaxing all your muscles one by one. Make sure you’re taking a vitamin B complex - honestly, it will make a difference in serotonin levels and we often lack this after sustained alcohol use. Try to limit how much caffeine you take as that can make it worse. That’s all I have I am afraid but if it persists, it might be worth seeing your doctor. Hope it passes soon.

The panic attacks will become less and less frequent. Meanwhile, you should do your best to avoid any stressful or potentially triggering situations.

Most of that time that panicky feeling comes from shallow breathing… so the solution is quite simple. Breathe! Take deep breaths and try to relax. Don’t pace around, I’ve found that makes it worse. If you’re standing, sit down, or lay down. Try to relax, watch a movie, listen to music, read a book. Breathe slowly and relax the mind and body. About 10-15 minutes later you’ll most likely forget that you even had an anxiety attack. This is what works best for me.

Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 7, and then breathe out for 8 seconds. This helps me a lot. If it gets debilitating, I would consider going to see your general practitioner or a psychiatrist. There are some people that just have extreme cases of anxiety and panic attacks that they do need medical help OR therapy. Breathing and talking to others in the meantime. I also do epsom salt baths to calm myself. It seems like when I take one of those, as it has magnesium in it, it relaxes me a lot! Best wishes!

Not so much related to alcohol but I know panic attacks. Like your whole body is consumed, impending doom, no breathing technique in the world will stop it.

The best thing to do I’ve found is to ground, distract, and rest. It passes eventually. Take care of yourself and have faith everything is okay.

I found CBD oil and the Headspace app really, really helped my anxiety, insomnia and panic attacks in the beginning. Amazing work so far, keep it up :+1:

Day 2 is rolling for me too. Against my anxiety i take two drops of cbd oil in the evening. I can sleep a lot better with it. Relapsed a couple of times but i am sure i make it through this time. Different space and environment which i had to change first.
Keep it up!
