Anthem of the Day (Part 1)

Björk, you radiant sunflower.
Probably my favorite singing voice of all time. Adore her.

Gonna watch this tonight.

When I was in a band in college, we used to play raucous house parties all the time. So much fun. One of my favorites to do was “Roadhouse Blues”, that guitar solo is just so exhilirating to rip into.

My uncle has pretty strong ties to the island and always tells the story of the first festival in 68’ being attended by 10,000 purely via word of mouth. I’m not sure how much that stands up to stringent fact checking but I always love hearing it.

Say what you will about Dave Grohl’s merits as a songwriter and frontman, but I will always prefer drummer Dave Grohl. Damn he has so much power and just makes it look fun. This song in particular has always made me want to play drums, despite not having the coordination for it (I’ve tried, it was miserable!)

I maintain that Songs for the Deaf is the best outright rock album of the millennium, and it wouldn’t be what it is without Mr Grohl’s drumming.

Amazing album - I was lucky to watch DG drum with the QOTSA. Needless to say it was pretty cool.

Happy Birthday, Neil Young! 76th on Nov 12, 2021, thanks for all the good music! This recording, 50 years ago, amazing!
This song will always and forever remind me of a beautiful, curvy, happy drive out of Sequoia Natl Forest, California, through a beautiful pass cutting through the mountains, dropping in to the fertile San Joaquin Valley. The song went through my head for hours and hours and has embedded itself forever with that day. It’s all good.

James Brown was in the first group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
His song “I Feel Good” was in the Terminal Cancer Couloir ski descent video I posted a few days ago. (Some of you may not be familiar with the song )
" Wabash Cannonball" from the 1800’s is considered to be the oldest influence to Rock and Roll.
