Love Hooded Menace…the name alone is awesome
Killer album. Dan the automator next level, amazing trio
Yeah man the entire Scandinavian catalogue is unreal, imo the original second wave of Black metal from Norway; Mayhem, Burzum, Darkthrone, Satyricon, Emperor, Immortal, Dimmu Borgir Enslaved, Gorgoroth, Ulver, (not so much black metal anymore) absolutely crushed the scene and everything after those bands was a wannabe knock off like I’ve listened to everything from Sweden and it just doesn’t do it for me although I do love the album Sworn To The Dark by Watain and Marduk has some stuff I likeN;but there is something about the original bands especially Burzum that will never be replicated and so many sub genres were created from Darkthrone, Burzum and Mayhem overall sound, its black metal heaven for the purists I guess that’s the trve kvlt era. But everyone has different taste with they like. Urgehal is about as rank as I would post and not with a live show
My other domain in what I love to write (dungeon synth) and what I’m passionate about in black metal is actually atmospheric. Here is a good drop an album most hardcore black metal fans are familiar with only one album dropped by these guys in 2013 and it was easily one of my personal favorites and hand picked top black metal albums ever written all the way from the USA
This is something I never would have seen if you hadn’t shared, so awesome and beautiful. Thanks for posting it!
Anytime man my catalogue is always full of good shit for everyone
No doubt! Great album
Ondskapt released a decent album this year, 10 years after their first. I’ve been given this album a good thrashing. Swedish
I was going to say, you sound very much like a purist But you are right. That second wave will always be the blueprint and the yardstick that every black metal band will be measured against. And it created the whole aesthetic that people know now.
There’s great bands and little scenes all over. So many little labels releasing stuff.
Caladan Brood sounds great. I’ve popped it on my Spotify I’ve heard a lot about Dungeon Synth but I haven’t properly delved into it yet. I like the ambient Burzum stuff of course, some early Mortiis and Fenriz’s Neptune Towers. Old Tower is the only modern one I know really. And Summoning. Have you heard them? I reckon you’d love them
I do man I’m an avid Tolkien fan I was going to mention them along with Caladan Brood they are absolutely amazing , I’m not sure what you’ve listened to by them but the albums Dol Guldur , Minas Morgul, Old Mornings Dawn and Stronghold all solid releases many great atmospheric tracks on those albums
Here’s a couple for you and anyone who wants to listen, Wongraven was Satyrs side project from Satyricon back in the day, and Fief is the good ol feel of medieval pagan dungeon synth. Imo Mortiis is the epitome of what dungeon synyh is definitely his first 3 albums are masterpieces in the genre and very influential for me but if you want something else to chill to these are always good albums for soothing the soul
I had a feeling you’d be a fan. Dol Guldur is the one I always seem to go to, I need to branch out a listen to more of the other albums for sure. And thanks for the other recommendations. There’s so much out there I always appreciate tips.
I’m not a Tolkien fan myself, but have you heard the Lord of the Rings album by Bo Hansson? I love it.
I have not man ill definitely make some time and check it out. Blind Guardian did so much in honor of Tolkien, Summoning, Burzum, there is so many Tolkien music inspirations in the European areas its amazing what that man was capable of inspiring with some stories
Same man I always appreciate all the drops
What a cutey
