Anthem of the Day (Part 1)

Awesome pics - thanks for sharing!!! I’ve been a huge fan of Maiden since seeing them in '83 on the Piece of Mind tour. They continue to record great albums after all these years and remain amazing live! Up the irons!!! :metal:

Hey, you are very welcome! Oh man, they really do just keep getting better and better the older they get, haha! But seriously, they really have! They seriously can still rock it out, love them!

Well… back in May 2012 (OMG I can’t believe it’s been THAT long already!) before hubby and I were married, we drove to London (Ontario) from Flint, Michigan to see Bryan Adams. He has always been my FAVORITE! We actually got front row seats… dead center… AND we got to meet him!!! Here are the pics from before the show!

Always appreciated the beauty and simplicity of the musical structure of this song, in particular the guitar solo. Now I’ve reached a point in life where I relate intimately with the lyrics, it brings a tear nearly every listen. This song is perfection.

Marillion was so good with Fish, definitely about the closest persona to Phil Collins in prog since the 80s :metal:

Canadian in the house, favorite Canadian band by far, Neil Peart is one of the biggest influences as a musician I’ve ever had, each member just an absolute beast on their instrument

Rush has to be my all-time favorite band, period. I’ve seen them at least once every tour since Grace Under Pressure. It was a devastating day a year ago when I learned of Neil’s passing. I still haven’t accepted there never will be another album by them. That said, they couldn’t have written a better final song on their final album than The Garden… it was like they knew. “Time is still the infinite jest…”

Rush is one of the ALL TIME best bands, ever. It was so incredibly sad when Neil Peart passed away. It was an AMAZING drummer. Sadly that is one of the few concerts hubby and I did not make it to, but really wished to.

We’ve lost some pretty PHENOMENAL drummers along the way… John Bonham, Keith Moon, Jeff Pocaro… all well before their time (not that there is ever a “good” time to go…) but their music has and will live on. That’s the glorious thing about music, it carries on through time, from generation to generation.

Then there’s all the Spinal Tap drummers we lost along the way…

LIST OF SPINAL TAP DRUMMERS (ALL DECEASED)

  • John “Stumpy” Pepys (1964–1966) Died in a bizarre gardening accident, that the authorities said was “best left unsolved.”
  • Eric “Stumpy Joe” Childs (1966–1967) Choked on vomit of unknown origin, perhaps but not necessarily his own, because “you can’t really dust for vomit.”
  • Peter “James” Bond (1967–1977) Spontaneously combusted on stage during a jazz festival on the Isle of Lucy.
  • Mick Shrimpton (1977–1982) Exploded onstage.
  • Joe “Mama” Besser (1982) Claimed he “couldn’t take this 4/4 shit”; according to an MTV interview with Spinal Tap in November 1991, he disappeared along with the equipment during their Japanese tour. He is either dead or playing jazz.
  • Richard “Ric” Shrimpton (1982–1999) Allegedly sold his dialysis machine for drugs; presumed dead.
  • Sammy “Stumpy” Bateman (1999-2001) Died trying to jump over a tank full of sharks while on a tricycle in a freak show.
  • Scott “Skippy” Scuffleton (2001–2007) Fate unknown.
  • Chris “Poppa” Cadeau (2007–2008) Eaten by his pet python Cleopatra.
  • Plus 9 other drummers at various times (Probably between 1970 and 1981) all of whom are dead
