I finally listened to his solo album a week ago and I liked it, it reminded me of pretty much just what he does in Amorphis but with more variety definitely a great band and possibly the biggest influencers of folk metal that came out of the 90s with Finntroll

I have never read that book but I do know that is Finnish folklore and thatā€™s what the first Amorphis album Tales From The Thousand Lakes is about, and that is your guys version of paganism? Or are they fairytales similar to the Grimm stories written in the 1800s in Germany?

I always assumed that was Finlands version of paganism and Iā€™m not sure why I havenā€™t read it yet but I need to dive into that and Celtic paganism as well.

Iā€™ve written a few songs in honor of the Gods Iā€™ve written a song called Vanaheim, Helheim and ƅsgard they are orchestral pieces but its an honor to be able to write towards your faith. I love that about folk metal its predominately centered around that countries folklore what I never understood is how Finntroll is from Finland and all of there lyrics are in Swedish and based around Norse folklore. But Korpiklaani is also awesome in the sense that they greatly cover the faith of the Sami tribes in Lapiland.

And I do agree with what you are saying about paganism is an invented word by Christians as is heathen the only reason I use those terms is so others understand who donā€™t believe in the old Gods. Ultimately a form of animistic and tribalism. Many of the tribes would believe there own God and deity they chose to represent the village in Scandinavia and that was lost after 1066 and the fall of the Viking era, Iā€™ve looked into this a fair bit as well and the Finnish were also a part of there own Viking era but they ventured out I believe more towards Russia and in the Baltics. Such a glorious and rich history.
