My apologies for clogging up the timeline with so much Cash but today I went in the record shop and actually spoke to the dude behind the counter. He told me he saw him, Johnny Cash play, in Portsmouth of all places. At the old airport. It was around the time the below was released. And now I know that I’m going to be all embarrassing and intense and go back in there at some point just to make him tell the story again.

My Uncle Mack played with Cash in a little dive bar in Hot Springs, AR. He played guitar and could sing a lot like him. When I went to stay with them, he’d always sing and play for me.

How utterly cool that your uncle would play for you, did you have any favourite requests, Cash or otherwise, you used to like hearing?

It was always Johnny Cash or Waylon Jennings. I was only a toddler, so that’s probably the only singers I knew. His mother was Native American, so he sang their songs, too. I miss him. So glad you brought these good memories back to me.
