Anthem of the Day (Part 2)

Damn I didn’t know you had them too, I was picking up dinner and boom, it just became a nightmare and the rain started dropping I was like well at least my phone has a great camera we can make it work

Mine was earlier in the day between 2-3pm. I was freaking out cause it came so fast, but luckily passed just as fast

I was sitting in a hall closet with extra water, food, blankets and my dog. Then I looked down an realized there was a 6 pack of seagrams coolers in the closet. My husband bought them a year ago thinking I would like them?!?!??? At least gave me a laugh during my freak out.

  • Björk Guðmundsdóttir & tríó Guðmundar Ingólfssonar - Gling-Gló, 1990.
  • Kraftwerk - Computer World, 1981.
  • The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico, 1967.
  • De La Soul - 3 Feet High…And Rising, 1989.
  • Talking Heads - Speaking In Tongues, 1983.
  • Rage Against The Machine - Evil Empire, 1996.
  • DEVO - Q: Are We Not Men? A: We are DEVO!, 1978.
  • Men At Work - Business As Usual, 1981.

Gonna be a tight month, I have spine surgery in mid-April but I’ll do my best to get these all in.

:fireworks::notes: COLOR MONTH FUN FACT MOMENT :notes::fireworks:

This will be Kraftwerk’s 3rd appearance in this project, more than any other group thus far. DEVO and B-52s making their 2nd appearance.

Yellow April #1
The B-52’s - The B-52’s, 1979.

Right into it, then. Good one to spin for a Friday.
This is a 1981 West German pressing, where the album was actually known as Play Loud, which is what’s printed on the label - being both a title and an instruction.

The tune is probably my favorite B’s song (top 3 at least), really showcases Ricky Wilson’s unique playing style. The group was (understandably) never the same following his untimely demise — although they did achieve greater commercial success in the following years.

I needed something to wake me up. Should’ve included the lyrics. Well. Never mind. Have a good weekend.

Dizzee was baby rascal making this record - at 16. I’m 38 and still struggle with what end to open the bin bags. Ungenerous.

Right, yellow April it is then. Let’s do this @TMAC!! I’m going big early with one of the best records ever made (in my humble opinion).

Bonus picture, my Bad Brains shirt from at least 20 years ago that is now a disgusting rag that I can’t bear to throw away.

I’m incredibly saddened to say that their first recording studio in Arlington was closed down, the owner said he might move it elsewhere, but he’s a older gent, might just call it a day.

A lot of great music came out of there, Bad Brains Fugazi, Foo fighters recorded there.

Never Mind The Bullocks should be here too IMO. But just for this ultimate cover I choose Cake. (the song that is, not the cover art)
