Jack Ketchum
Right, and the first 20+ pages were really good. Getting at er again tonight so wanna replicate last nights amazing sleep.
Love his writing and books. Running With Scissors is amazing.
I devoured the entire book in one day. Very good. I’ll be reading more!!
A story of self-discovery, becoming and belonging. Told through parallel timelines, around 1920 to 1950 and the present day. Just a little bit of magic, some romance, some more hardships and characters that are so easy to relate to. It only took me a few days to finish it, I just could NOT put it down.
I give it five starfish!
I’m a little sad now, I didn’t want this book to end!
Oh good to hear, it’s on my tbr list!
Man’s Search For Meaning by Viktor Frankl.
Me and the wife are currently reading a faint cold fear by karim slaughter. Really good series so far
Trigger warning: suicide, depression
I recently finished, ‘Bandit: A daughter’s memoir’ by Molly Brodak, it was quite compelling and sad. Then I read, ‘Molly’ by Blake Butler about his wife, Molly (who wrote Bandit). Disturbing isn’t the right word. Exploitative. Cathartic. Idk
I came to both books from this review in the New York Times…
A Memoir of a Marriage Cut Short and the Secrets Left Behind https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/25/books/review/blake-butler-molly.html?unlocked_article_code=1.rE0.q8OB.Vv6BBaexhcFr
Hard to put into words how they made me feel, but they did remind me of how deep depression can be and how quickly our experience here can change. His descriptions of his old life ending and a completely new life beginning in the moments after his wife’s suicide were chilling in how they exactly captured my own experience with my spouse’s suicide. Surreal.
Wow…I just finished this one…it lagged a bit in the beginning…but once it kicked in, I was mesmerized. Loved it.

I liked her book a Shadow in Moscow. I’ve never really read historical fiction but I am starting to really enjoy it.
Trying to read some more from local indigenous folks.
I started this today.
