Just wondering if there are any folks who use keto as their diet and what your experience has been.
I’ve been full blown keto for about 18 months ago with some cheat days/weeks sprinkled in here and there. Only diet I’ve ever been able to adhere too. I was about 320 pounds when I started, down to 255 today.
Thats awesome! I did keto successfully for a few weeks. I lost 9 pounds, I stopped because I was still drinking 2 days a week and felt like the extra calories in higher fat plus added liquid calories was not effective as! But, now that my head is back on straight Im going to give it another shot. I found I didnt get hungry and stayed full a long time!! I have friends who have lost 40+pounds. I find you dont rrally crave breads either!
I was 396 at my recorded heaviest, daily drinking and eating everything under the sun. Basketball and a super restrictive calorie diet got me to 252 but I soon fell off and put 70 pounds back on. Takes some getting used too, carbs are everywhere and in everything but that full/satiated feeling is totally unbeatable. I usually only get hungry once a day, fuel up and good to go.
I am Keto!! I am so inspired to hear your losses!! 18 months is effing amazing. You go boy!! My drug of choice is food. I logged a binge day…once…one time only. 21,000 calories. That was over a year ago. Im 31 days abstinent today and in Overeaters Anonymous that means I have not binged in 31 days and have been following my food plan, which is Keto. I feel AMAZING!
I am down 22 pounds, my skin is clear and healthy, my sleep is sound and energizing. I pray I stay in control of my disease because I feel so alive. It used to be about the say I looked but without the disease making me so negative, my confidence is back. I no longer feel ugly, even with my excess weight. I am just changing into a completely different person. Keto makes it possible to learn how to eat like a normal person. I eat when I’m hungry and I stop when I’m full. If, somehow, I am hungry in an hour, I find a snack that will quiet the hunger and benefit my body. My brain is focused and thinking clearly. I cant praise the benefits I experience enough.
I cant wait until I reach my first goal. I started at 269.9, today I am 247.2. First goal is 25 pounds. Main goal is 100 pounds but in taking it 25 at a time.
I did keep for awhile and loved it. I felt so good. My relapse with alcohol stopped it and every other healthy thing in my life. I have put on weight, have major inflammation and can hardly stomach looks g in the mirror. I want to begin it again. I will too. But today and the past few days it’s all I can do to survive…
I’m a lazy ketoer, it’s worked wonderfully. Just count carbs and eat to fullness. I’ve done macro counting amd warrior/intermittent fasting wity success but it wasn’t as much fun. Warrior diet would consist of like 2100kcals in a single meal, that can be tough so I stopped haha. Slept like a baby with that full belly though.
Corned beef has been on sale because of St. Patrick’s day and I stocked up lol. Prefect keto meal.
Definitely look into electrolytes and mutli vi’s when attempting keto because the “flu” and transition can turn a lot of folks off.
Drinking water is important too, you don’t retain water on keto and often piss like a race horse when you do.
I’m in ketosis right now, does that count? Lol. I’m on a Candida diet, it’s very restrictive and similar but omg. Amazing! Especially now that I’m done drinking, I feel like me again!
My hubby and I are doing keto. He’s lost 25 pounds and I’ve lost 14 in a bout 7 weeks. I tried it before I quit drinking and it would make me so hungover to try and drink with no carbs. Of course I never lost weight because I would cheat and drink and then eat! This time it’s been great, consistently losing about 2 pounds a week and I’m rarely hungry!
I found it incredibly hard to stay hydrated while drinking and ketoing, always hungover from lack of water. So much easier now. When I add some walking in and hit 10k steps on my phone weight loss accelerates.
Good for you guys! My wife comes and goes, she still is losing weight doing what she does so I don’t pay it no mind, do get a lil jealous of her pizzas though so thankfully I have a simple keto pizza recipe that I can easily make and eat without destroying my carb count.
I’m the master pizza casserole maker. It replaces the extra large pizza we would get every Friday night! It’s just the toppings baked on a pan! What do I use for pizza? There is a recipe using almond flour but I’m afraid it will keep me from losing weight.
I go super simple. 1.5 cups of mozzarella and 1 egg well mixed together. Place Parchment paper on a cookie sheet and spread the mix out like dough and keep it tight as you can. Sprinkle some italian seasoning on it and bake it at 350 til it starts to get golden brown. Remove and cool for about 10 minutes. Then top with marinara, I like mezzeta because it’s affordable and has no added sugar it’s only like 4 carbs per tablespoon, add toppings and more cheese and throw it back in til the cheese is cooked to your liking. Ends up about 8 carbs depending on toppings and it’s very filling.
Yep I would die without cheese! I read that some people can’t eat a lot of cheese on keto because it keeps them from losing thank the gods that’s not us lol!
Pork rind crust chicken fingers are noms too. Bag o’ spicy pork rinds crushed or processed to a chunky dust, chicken breast cut into finger/tender sized slivers, egg wash. Dredge the chicken fingers in egg, liberally coat with pork rinds and fry. So good with Ken’s blue cheese dressing.
I am partially on Keto by default. My husband is back on the Keto plan, so there’s where the default comes in. He lost about 20 lbs before our wedding last summer then gained most of it back. He has not been as dedicated this time around. I use Home Chef that has low carb options 3 days a week but just ordered the Emeals low carb recipes for more options. So far so good. He still drinks, but I’m happy to says he’s cut waaay back since I quit 121 days ago. I copied your pizza and chicken recipe, thanks!
Happy to share. When not dedicated it can be tough, just like all the other stuff we try to quit those carbs can be a demon too! I used to be on reddit like crazy scouring for simple stuff… cause I’m not that talented haha. My wife likes Pinterest and has found a few things too, egg roll in a bowl probably my favorite Pinterest recipe.
Yes!!! This is me too, I was never hydrated enough when drinking and my body “needed” the carbs to soak up the booze so I wouldnt feel terrible after. I never found alcohol to work with any diet I ever tried
