Any mountain bike enthusiasts out there?

Hi all, new to the group. I’m working on 2 days sober right now. I can’t explain how much this group has helped! I wanted to start a new topic because getting on here and talking has been helping a lot.

I used to ride trails when I was younger and got back into it earlier this year. I got a pretty entry level Specialized bike and have been loving it. I sat down a couple months ago and figured how much $ I’d save if I stopped drinking and smoking cigarettes. Based on that I told myself if I stopped i could buy the bike I wanted. So what did I do…i ordered the bike, and didn’t stop either. I’m finally ready to stop drinking…the cigarettes will come next, one thing at a time. Id love hear about anyone’s bikes, trail experience or whatever. Hope everyone is having a great day

I am not a mountain biking enthusiast but I want to congratulate you on 2 days sober! I am new to recover again myself and even though I don’t mountain bike, I do like to work out and exercise  Hope you continue to connect with everyone on this forum  and continue to stay sober!

Its an absolute blast! Just like anything you have to start slow and work your way up. Before it started getting cold I was riding trails I never even would of thought about when I first started.

Not an enthusiastic MTBer but do like to get up the hill that I live at the bottom of.

That’s the route I do. The run down the right-hand side until the first squiggly bit is quite scary with loads of roots and stones.

The first time I did it was with some mates who get up there all the time. To say I was scared is an understatement. Last winter it was.
During lockdown 1.0 I got up there on my own and got faster and faster. There’s one section at the end that’s quite fast coming downhill.
I love it, but my bike is only an old hybrid that I bought about 15 years ago to commute on.
Can’t really justify the expense of a new one. My love is hiking and navigation events. The MTB is just a cross training thing really. But I have fun.

I am a bike enthusiast as well. All kind of bikes. I lived some years in (I must say the best région in Germany vor CC MTB) the black forest. Now, I live near lake Constance and MTB is not fun as I understand it.

For next year I am planning on a trip through France. Bike, tent and of I go. Freedooooooom :sunny::sunflower:

I have a gravel bike, 29er hardtail, cyclo-cross and my city bike.

Mountain biker here! I know hard to tell from my pic right! I used to race years ago (avatar is me in a 24 hour race in Canada from 2005 or 2006). Nowadays I’m lucky to squeeze in 4 rides a month in the summer! I am forever grateful to my friend who got me into it!

I am envious the black forest! I have relatives in Germany I never met. My mom visited Germany (near Black Forest) and the pictures were amazing! Definitely would love to go there.

Welcome!
We got the trek 26" a couple years back - kind of a combo trail /road bike. Hard to break a sweat on those big tires! You can turn the shocks on for trails or if for roads. I dig it. Used it alot when we lived in Ohio, but haven’t found many trails nearby in Texas yet. Still good to get out on them though atoms the neighborhood

That sounds like an absolute blast. I hope to take a trip to Colorado this next year if things with the covid crap get better. I have a 27.5 hardtail, a road bike, and a 29er full suspension on the way!
