Anyone here ever have bad trouble stopping Suboxone

Ok. I have been taking subs since 2013. I started clinics and got prescribed my own dose. I used that as an excuse for many years to cover up the fact that it was just a crutch and I was in fact a functioning addict. Before Suboxone, I took opioids. I’ve never went longer than ten days without taking a sub. Today i am four days not taking them. I really want to rid my body of having to wake up every morning and take something to “function” I don’t know anyone that has trouble with the same drug as me. If anyone knows any advice ,tips anything to help it would be greatly appreciated i have sober ppl in my life but they never struggled with addiction theirselves. The withdrawal for subs is horrific. Way worse than any opioids I ever took. Partly why I haven’t succeeded much with it. This round I’m actually serious. The first time I tried stop taking them a month ago, I failed and went back made my support hate me. I just want to know about others success with stop taking Suboxone/ methadone. And it may help influence me and keep my head in right place. thank you.

Hey welcome man! Yeah i was on fentanyl/heroin for 12 years, then subs. Now completely free of all opiates and it feels great. What questions do you have that i could possibly help with?

I agree with Dan. Tapering is definitly the way to go. Cut down like 2mg a week, you shouldnt really feel much withdrawal cutting down, but you will when you jump off, even from 2mg, but definitly better than jumping from a higher mg.

Yeah i didnt sleep for a few days either, i thought the withdrawals werent too bad except for the no sleep. But other than that i think they were less intense, just lasted alot longer

No tapering. Cold turkey. I’ve tried tapering and I always took more so I have to go cold turkey route. I’m on day five now , this is my second time attempting to get off this bastards in a two month period. My last dose was Monday around 7am before work.

How long does the physical stuff last ? Like in weeks? I subs stay in ur bone marrow and that’s partly why I’ve had such problems in past due to fear of change and fear of the unknown. I was taking subs for over 8 years. Before that. I always took some type of opioids. I’ve always gotten high since I was 15. So I’m trying to learn how to live sober. I really do want to stop taking subs. I’m not in a clinic anymore. They would have gave them to me til I died probably lol so yeah I’m finally doing it on my own.

I couldn’t do taper. It only feeded my addiction , as I loved the way subs made me functional. I never really tried tapering right tho either. I was powerless with tapering. It’s cold turkey for me or nothing. I know I can do it I just hate the RLS part. Everything else I can handle. I don’t take any supplements or anything for withdrawal I just eat, try to sleep and I try to be somewhat active even tho I feel half dead. Lol

So for me most of the withdrawal symptoms went away after a month or so, after about 2 weeks you should be feeling a bit better day by day. But expect your sleep to be fucked for a bit. Took me about 2 months to start getting about 6hrs a night. But it does slowly get better i promise. As for the symptoms, i would suggest taking some magnesium. It helps with the muscles and RLS a bit. Also before you go to bed i would suggest some pushups and squats then a hot shower. This helps ALOT with the RLS from my experience. Hope that helps a little. If you need any more help with anything feel free to post or message. Good luck buddy you got this! Stay strong :muscle::100:

DougM. Did you take anything to help you? Supplements, vitamins, sleeping aids , etc. How long did you take subs if you don’t mind me asking? I know we’re all different and go thru different levels of withdrawals depending on our use dose etc. But the mental part is the hardest for me right now. I’m fighting to keep my head in right place. I don’t want to loose everything I have over a drug. It’s my choice and I want to rid my body of this orange poison. Lol

Yeah i hear ya there, the doctors wanted to keep me on subs, indefinitely, while i was still in recovery when i told them i wanted to taper and get off. So i basically said fuck that and did it myself and never went back to the doctor. Ive used them on and off for quiet a while. Longest straight stint was prob a little over a year. As for supplements…magnesium will help alot with RLS, but that was the only one i took, along with a multivitamin. For sleep i wanted to stay away from sleeping meds personally so i did it without. Melatonin, can definitly help with sleep, but theres not really much you can do to get a good restful sleep until the withdrawals are gone and even then itll take a little while before youll hit a full 8 hrs. Try doing some squats and pushups/situps if you can before bed, followed by a hot shower, this will help your RLS, muscles, and regulate your body temp for a little while so your not hot/cold. As for the mental thing, i know your not gonna wanna hear this but meetings, and talking how your feeling out with people. Come on here and post if your not comfortable opening up in person. Theres a ton of love and support on here and alot of great people. But after a meeting or talking it out with someone, even though physically i was in alot of pain, mentally it would take away the cravings and help alot. You just gotta have it in your mind that you ARE stronger than the drug, its not going to kill you, even though it feels like it. You can do this man. Lmk if i can help with anything else.

thats good to hear what would you reccomend that I g try and get on subs or just stop ive been weaning the fake ones down I feel nothing off of them no high what so ever its like throwing your money away to punish yourself so I don’t know what im doing man when your high it always seems like a good idea to quit

You Need to find a way to cut ur supply off… for one. New phone or tell them to stop selling to you. Theres no way out of this but thru. Any opiate will prolong wd. The object is to taper to as little as possible so wd is less servere and mild. When it comes to subs u wanna just use as little as possible and taper off fast or u can.

yea thats been the plan for one I have to be mentally stronger and say no and 2 I have to be physically strong and ready for the withdrawal and for 3 I need to cut off the supply.
