I started drinking weekly at 14, more frequently at 15, and then almost daily from 16 to now.
Where did you all begin?

16 years old. I’ve drank pretty concistantly since then- stopping only 3 times, twice for 8 months due to pregnancies and once for a year and a few months… I’ve only managed to maintain stretches of 30 days here and there… today is day 8
Started around 15-16 firat years was only party drunkning somewhere around 22-23 one could say it became a daily dose maybe not to the point of passing out last years passing out atleast once a week … Today sober for 56 days
I started drinking and doing recreational drugs at 17. That was 24 years ago. I think I hit stage 4 alcoholism about 7 years ago. Not statistics I’m very proud of.
I started getting tastes from my parents very young. I remember my mom asking me to fill her wine glass but I would guzzle one for me first then bring her back her glass.
In highschool I didn’t drink often but when I did it was binge drinking.
At university it was binge drinking at the bars 2 or 3 times a week
At this point I was drinking just like everyone else did…party hard each weekend. The problem was that they all grew up and stopped, I did not.
In my mid to late 20s was when I turned to daily wine drinking. I thought it was so grown up and sophisticated. And perhaps it would have been if it were just one glass.
The last year or two (I’m 45 now) my drinking progressed to a bottle of wine plus brandy or rye “nightcaps” every day.
I started drinking and “lighter” drugs at 15, continued to escalate into harder stuff in my 20s, got sober for 6 years, picked up where I left off drinking and using harder drugs in my early 30s binging 3x a week and recovering the days in between. And now here I am- about to be 38 with just under 7 days sober.
I was 14 ive had phases where ive been sober i want to get back to that place and feel happy and healthy
Didnt start drinking until i was 17 had to keep fit was going to become a pro soccer player but i went to A A at 34 got sober i am 65 on the 23rd this month never needed to go out and try again everyone have a good day
My story to the letter except I am 47
I started smoking pot when I was in 6th grade so I was like 13 yrs old. Then when I was in 7th grade I started sneaking liquor out of bottles around my house because I was curious and the rest is history.
15/16 weekend drinker and a bit of pot. 19 years daily drinking & going to bed drunk every night, stopped pot and only ever drink beer after 19. This carried on for almost 4 decades without respite until October 2016
I started drinking around 15 years old lightly. Was a heavy drinker around 20 years old. Started doing heroin at 24 years old. Got clean off heroin at 27 years old. Have severe scars and endocarditis from use. Been clean off heroin 6 years. But substitute alcohol abuse for the loss of other addiction. Been trying to quit alcohol with no success off and on. This time I am 15 days sober off alcohol and all other drugs, and I am seeking help with AA and utilizing this forum. So I am hoping and have faith in God that I will make it this time.
17 & now I’m 19.
@Shyaneduley Your still young stop why your ahead I’m about to be 29 and hate what drinking has done to me. Starts out with you thinking you have it under control and the next you don’t know how you ended up where your at.
Started at age 14, drank beer off my dad’s beer tap in our basement bar. At 15, drank at friends’ houses and while I was a babysitter at people’s houses. Got fired that summer. At 16, constant drinking on weekends and smoked weed, at 17 I drank at my friends parents bar…they let minors drink. Met older people that way and got into drinking crowd filled with many drugs, men and foolish behavior. This was the 90s.
I never really drank. I used herion. I’m so glad I got myself off it before I ended up in jail I’m 6 months and a couple weeks clean. So anything’s possible. You can also leave your addiction behind you. Good luck
I started drinking at 16 but once my brother turned 21 he was able to buy it for me regularly. I loved the feeling when I was getting into it but once I turned dependant on it is when the real problems started. I got my self in a hole legally and financially and still drank like a fish. Alcohol has ruined my life. I wrote on a note book the pros and cons of alcohol. For the pros section there was none. I’m on the road to recovery and this app and forum has great advice.
I had my first drink at 12 thought it was disgusting it was beer and had some other drinks here and there from then on I was about 16 when I started drinking to numb a broken heart and 17 when I started getting drunk and partying. It only escalated and got worse until I met my husband at 23 then I tried to cut back but realized I didnt know how to.Didnt actually stay sober for more than 6 days until late last year when I got 108. Im 26 and 7 days sober today.
I started sneaking liquor from my mom regularly at 13. Casually drank during and after school in high school, Probably started heavily drinking by 19 and getting into weed, coke and ecstasy. Kinda just maintained being a functional alcoholic from there with occasional drug use when the mood struck
At age 17 I started using meth. It took over for about a year… Got somewhat in control and was only doing here and there, quit at age 18- 18 1/2. Instead of staying clean, i then tried heroin. It became the love of my life. After a few months I had taken a positive pregnancy test and quit cold Turkey, right then and there. It was hard but I had to do it. I am now 433 days clean!
