I have recently been reading the book Atomic Habbits by James Clear and it has made me rethink some of my other behaviours i want to cut ties with. I have also started some new habits that i’m excited about!
My current streaks are:
Alcohol/Nicotine free: 1 Year 10 Months
Caffine free: 1 Month 10 days
PMO free: 5 days
Stretching every day: 5 days
Reading for 20 minutes every day: Day 1
What are some of your streaks or habits that you keep track of aside from sobriety?
Great idea! I am not tracking anything else atm but think I might try to. Someone I know tries to tackle a new habit once a month - either cutting something out, or adding something positive in. They then stick to it or are more mindful after the month.
I am not feeling strong enough to give something else up right now, but adding something positive in would be good. Just need to think what…
Totally agree with you. I only add something new when i feel like i have my latest habit or thing i’ve given up under control. It’s important not to overwhelm yourself. I do like to challenge myself though
Yes, you are going really well. Congratulations on those numbers.
My next challenge definitely needs to be physical. I am really good at drinking enough water, reading every day, eating well but I am not great at exercise. I am hindered by having chronic fatigue and a neuro issue, so always a bit scared to push myself and set my progress back, but I really need to get stronger or I am going to suffer more as I get older. As soon as I get over covid I will set myself a physical target and track it for accountability.
Ahh yeah i have experienced chronic fatigue symptoms previously - albeit probably a lot less severe than most.
I found that exercising while going through it was very much a case of doing a little more than you think you can when you feel bad and less than you think you can when you feel good. Depends on you as the inidividual though obviously.
They do say exercise can help to improve chronic fatigue symptoms in some people. Just go easy on yourself!
Oh thanks, always good to hear from people that have been through it. I am so much better than I was initially (had to drive the 5 minute walk to school). Now I can definitely manage proper walks, but do have days when I am really feeling it. I think to just add in a walk around the block on those days would make such a difference. That is the kind of thing I want to track.
