Hi!
For those of you thst enjoy listening to audiobooks, what was the last audiobook that you ’ binged-listened?!
It’s a series. I’m currently on book five. I do hope it never ends!
This looks great, thanks!
Mathew Perry’s audio book, Friends, lovers and the big terrible thing.
Very interesting and honest. He had the trifecta of addictions alcohol, cigarettes and opiates.
Hugs
I finished When we believed in mermaids in 1 day! Great book, lots of triggers though!
A good read, too, but if ya go audiobook-style then ya get to hear Mark Lanegan, himself, read … uh, well…himself. (R.I.P., unfortunately)
One of my favorite singers of all-time, he first achieved fame (or was it notoriety?) with the Seattle band Screaming Trees, during that whole grunge thing that happened back in the ol’ 1990s. But he really hit his stride with his solo albums, imo; he had that kinda gravelly, cigarettes-and-whiskey-touched baritone voice that just takes ya somewhere…
Oh, yeah…btw: he was also a hardcore dope fiend and alcoholic. I imagine he, alone, paid for at least one house for some heroin cartel leader out there before he got clean. And, if I remember his drink o’ choice correctly, the Jameson’s Irish Whisky folks probably noticed a drop in sales once he got sober.
He died in 2022…I choose to believe (and hope) that he died Clean. And Sober.
At any rate, if it wouldn’t trigger someone too badly…it’s pretty interesting. He ran around with and was friends with Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) and Layne Staley (Alice In Chains) … amongst other rock stars. He lived hard but he suffered harder. Anyhoodles…
