Before Cell Phones, Social Media & Streaming, I had to

I also challenge some of these younger people to actually walk up to somebody and ask them out in person. There’s nothing in the world like getting shot down face to face. LMAO

DUI was not a known thing as a teenager, occasionally be charged with reckless driving, or often the police would drive the drunk person home, and they could get their car the next day. Both my brother & friend were driven home by separate police officers on separate occasions. They were beyond wasted!!

For some reason people who did that drove me fucking insane. I would wish bad fortunes befall them for emotionally blackmailing me for the sake of their own convenience.

Making bicycle ramps/jumps out of anything we could find (evel knieval style). No such thing as a bike helmet for safety!

In my first apartment at age 17 (1997) I didn’t set up a phone line right away and had to walk down the street with change for the pay phone at the gas station if I wanted to call anyone. No one could call me back.
Honestly that is my idea of heaven.

@Chiron I just wrote my sister a card for her birthday.

We used to play ‘kick the can’ at the morning bus stop (for school) any empty pop or beer can would do.
I got a black eye one morning from the can hitting me in the face. I went to school like normal, maybe a few questions, not really any concern from the teachers.

My doorbell fried out (actual smoke from the box inside) around 13 years ago. I never replaced or fixed it. I don’t hear or see anyone who rings my doorbell, best thing ever! My family/friends text me.

Payphones bring me back to my childhood. I played sports after school and my parents didn’t know what time to pick me up so I would make a collect call and they would reject it. That would be their cue to come get me.

I always carried a quarter for the phone, then later $.50. I had a pair of Roos and put it in the tiny change pocket.

I remember using code with the phones, let it ring twice, hang up, then ring once. It was a signal for someone to know who it was!!

If you were watching a movie on TV, you had to run and use the bathroom or whatever before the commercials end. There was NO such thing as pausing TV until TiVo came out.

Pausing live TV was like witchcraft!

Playing outside all day, every day. Simple chalk kept us busy playing hopscotch. Sprinklers were a big thing unless you had that one friend with a pool or a lake nearby. Fans to stay cool…no air conditioning. No seatbelts. I came from a family of 7. A station wagon with a 3rd seat facing the rear was our only car.

Excellent! What a nice gift. A hand written note in a card we send to someone is such a wonderful thing to receive.

It was postcards to friends when you took a vacation. Had to mail it on the first day in hopes they’d get it before you got home.
