Betterhelp online therapy

No but they will sell your data and specs to other companies. This is not a rumour, it’s what they do.
Germany has free therapy, it’s rare in the world. Take advantage! Even if it takes a while to find someone and the right one.

Sober Time + BetterHelp

BetterHealth has been the subject of a complaint regarding its privacy policies, that recently resulted in an Order by the Federal Trade Commission banning them from sharing sensitive data for advertising. Something they appear to have been doing for years (I say appear because no judge has been involved). I can only hope they have bettered their ways. I’m not implying our private personal data is unsafe on Talking Sober. But the partnership does concern me.

I’ve used betterhelp, before i was ready and brave enough to meet with a therapist in person. I was matched with a therapist who wasn’t a great fit for me, but i found the platform easy to use and it fit with what i needed at the time. I wouldnt have used it if I’d known about privacy issues at that time.

Found this thread through Google while researching BH alternatives because yeah, their data privacy track record completely sketched me out. Ended up skipping the massive corporate platforms altogether and looked for smaller, insurance-friendly practices instead. A colleague recommended Manhattan Mental Health Counseling since they do telehealth here in NY, and honestly, the shift to a smaller, clinical team felt way less like being processed through a marketing funnel. If anyone else stumbles on this old post looking for actual depth therapy without the tech platform risks, definitely look into localized practices rather than the big venture-backed apps

Hi, no I never tried either started other therapy. I have hard trust issues that I cannot overcome.
