Books to help with this journey?

I just ordered “This Naked Mind” and “Recovery - Russell Brand” because I have heard a lot of positive things about them. Have you read them? What did you think of them? Are there any other books that I should look into? Thanks!

Russell Brand’s book is what triggered me into recovery. Highly recommend it. Also, google videos of him promoting the book. He has a powerful voice. I also ordered Guts, by Kristen Johnston. I love her raw honesty mixed with humour.

The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. I found so much of myself in that book. The first 164 pages are about the Program itself but the rest is people’s personal adventures before and after recovery.

Wow! I should definitely order the Kristen Johnston one. I downloaded the preview and was frustrated that I didn’t have the rest. Thanks!!

This is kind of what I was wondering… I’m not interested in the actual AA format, however, I thought I might be able to benefit from some of the ideas.

I’m currently reading “Being Sober: A Step-by-step guide to getting to, getting through, and living in recovery” by Harry Haroutunian

It’s pretty good so far.

My favorite was Alcohol Explained, by William Porter. The first 5 chapters are available on his website alcoholexplained.com.

Drop the rock

A friend from AA recommended: “The Language is Letting Go”. It has daily inspirations - written for codependency but works for recovery too. Lots on building self esteem. I just ordered it today.

The Naked Mind. Nothing has done more to change how I see alcohol. It’s a little simplistic but great information.

How did you like Russell Brand’s Recovery? For some reason I couldn’t get into it…

Let me know what you think about it! I started it but I had also started This Naked Mind at the same time and I want to focus on just one so I’ll read it after I finish This Naked Mind. So far I like it though, I like his blunt approach.
