Thoughts on this - is it possible to add something like a blur feature to videos, so that the user has to click on it to activate it? I have a suspicion that this bug might be more related to how YouTube integrates with Talking Sober, and it might be easier to solve with an opt-in action. And thought #b, I have traveled some overseas and many YouTube videos are not available in other countries - can anything be done to at least warn the o.p. that what they are posting may not be available to all?

I’ve just stopped checking threads with videos because it’s so frustrating. It doesn’t just link once, it does it repeatedly. It makes many threads completely unreadable
It’s a problem that has been around for a while. And obvious there’s no solution yet. I thought that the deal was that full Youtube links are only allowed in the music threads. In other thread the links can be blurred. Or shared on a line with other text like this: https://youtube.com/shorts/jiUei4LpqWA?si=JaIR_fXfjIsWoX0J (so not the whole youtube link after and before a hard return)
This way the full video doesn’t show as a preview here and Iphone users aren’t bothered. Right? I’m on android so I’m not 100% sure.
I think ‘video is not available’ is another thing. Different countries have different copyrights. So videos uploaded by a German or Dutch user often won’t play for an American. And vice versa.
The new blur feature is available for images and texts and can be accessed by tapping the gear icon when preparing your post. Then tap “Blur spoiler”. Like this.
Members then have the option to view the blurred text or pic at their discretion by clicking on it (click again to re-blur text, reload app to reblur images).
BTW, for me this is the “+” icon at the right top of the text box.
Hmmm… i don’t have a gear icon or a + . I’ve tried all the options, but nothing offers yhe ability to blur, so I thought maybe there was some special way to do it that I didn’t know.
I used to often use the feature where you could create a tab in the post and hide a bunch of text under it, which would shorten the length of the post and hide the contents, but that seems to be gone too.
I’ve always struggled with YouTube links on my iPhone, but I just checked the “What I’m listening to right now” thread that is full of YouTube links and was able to scroll through it for the first time and actually see the links as well as play them and not be pulled out of the app! Amazing! Spotify links still yank me out of the app, but no error message when I land! Great improvement overall
@Robin, Same experience for me, that thread with YouTube links, even from Europe, allows me to scroll, and Spotify links open MS Edge, since I don’t have that app installed.
