Bullet journaling anyone?

Wondering if anyone has or wants to try this! What would you put in it? How would u use it?

I started one when I first started my sober life and it economy did the trick when it came to keeping me occupied and positive about the changes I was making.

I got blind sided by an event that threw me off but I bought a new journal and have all the stuff to get started…thought it may be easier to get and stay motivated as a group

Hmm, could you please explain what ‘bullet journaling’ is? I do a lot of journaling and find it really helpful but could you tell me what’s specific about this?

It’s difficult to explain but it’s pretty much a combination of radiation all journals, calendars, trackers and creativity…it’s like creating your own hyper personalized journal.
Here are some examples of sections and pages people add to their journals. Some are fancy, some are super simple, there are no right or wrong ways to make yours.

For me what makes them usinque is that you number the pages and create an index so that you can find pages and sections with ease when you are looking for them.

I think it’s great for people in our situation because in a week a month a year etc our goals, struggles , moods , thoughts / ideas and outlook on life can change drastically.

This is a great way to track all that progress, (relapses and all ) while getting to know ourselves better being creative , getting organized and having a little fun.

There Re literally thousands of links, videos, blogs and forums on this subject. Check it out!

Yes! Art, journaling, collages etc all stuff that I’ve seen people incorporate into their bullet journals.

I’ve been wanting to start mine but not sure what to start with…I’ll just make the index and maybe start with a drink and smoke free tracker. Otherwise I’ll never get going lol

I bullet journal…I started a don’t break the chain page. It’s motivating me to color in each box everyday

I’d love to start this, as I’m an enormous fan of lists, data, habit tracking, etc.

Plus, let’s be honest, who DOESNT love buying new supplies?

Yes! I want to make one for vitamins, therapy appointment and recovery worksheets as well.

@Heathen.9 I wish I could post pics here so we could share visuals of what we like or what we are doing :frowning: supplies are definitely one of the best parts

It’s such a great distraction, something to get lost in when the boredom hits.

I also like @Melrm idea of incorporating some collages, word art, dream boards etc into the journal.

Great, someone else has this healthy addiction
I love everything creative, but I’m also very analytical so it works for me.
Originally my sister with eating addiction introduced it, it helped her to take her mind off eating. It really is a fun way to guide my attention away from drinking and smoking.
I can also write about the hardships of sobrierity in my journal. Like the intensity of feelings that come right after the quitting.
I been counting all the money I will save to my bullet Journal and it has been fun to think up little prizes for myself for being sober.
Love my Bullet Journal. It’s my new best friend!

That’s such great news! I love the idea of tracking money saved in there…and I’m excited about the fact that other people with addiction issues feel the same way

Apps and phones and computers are all really handy but there’s something really involved when you are making the grids and colouring them in yourself.

My sober tracker app keeps track of the money I’ve saved for me. On average, I spent about $100.00 a day on my heroin habit.. That was just money spent on heroin. That doesn’t count what I spent on weed, pills, coke, etc.. But it’s crazy to see how much I would have spent on heroin in the past month and a half I’ve been clean.

Wow! Yah, I was amazed when I realized I was spending 2-300 a week in booze and smokes smh. It’s crazy how when your innit you can’t see the reality of what’s happening. I was always broke and never knew why. Lol have you set aside the money you saved and done something with it?

Bet I also use this app and another one to track my savings I just have fun
Making charts and colouring lol :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Unfortunately, no. I lost my job and everything else in addiction. There at the end I was getting my money in not so good ways, and not doing things I should have like pay my bills. I don’t need to live like that anymore, so I quit “hustling”. Soon enough though, I’ll get my job back and be able to eventually save money after I catch up on fines and bills. Lol

Ah! Yah, I hear that…I’ve never admitted it but I think I’ve lost a coupe jobs to drinking. I might never have showed yo drunk but often late and hung over, smelling like booze ( ugh the shame) calling in “sick”. I’ve done some pretty not to awesome things to get money for drinks or smokes and hung out with / dated / slept with people I wouldn’t even talk to today because they were easy or constant access to an escape.

Not sure how it worked where you live or if your deep enough in dept for it to matter, but I filed for bankruptcy to give myself a fresh start. Best decision ever! Son much easier for me to get sober without that looking over my head. Now that it’s over and I’ve been discharged, I wish I had done t earlier!
