Well, I decided to get clean but relapsed again. My first Christmas with my family after almost 20 years was my big eye opener. I spent all Christmas Eve getting high, did not sleep, had a meltdown Christmas Day, missed Christmas with my family (showed up at 8pm high and delusional), somehow managed to pull it off (or so I thought), and went home and broke down for days. That was my rock bottom. I have ruined the last three holidays with my addiction and selfish behavior. Christmas was the worst and the most unforgettable. I am getting to vivitrol shot this Tuesday. I am sure I will make it to then. This is a rescheduled appointment… I need to go to a meeting and get a sponsor. I am looking for a sponsor now. I am hoping to go to a physical meeting tomorrow. Everyone wish me luck and support. I really need it. I am only 30 years old and have been fighting this battle for 2/3 of my life. I am at the end of my rope.

For me, it took me a good recovery program and the desire to be sober for ME. In rehab I got to the root of my need to use, stuffing down emotions from my childhood, and then the healing, thus sobriety, could truly begin.

Did you get the shot? I’ve met a few people over the years that said it was extremely helpful in early sobriety to keep the cravings at bay while they built their recovery foundation.
Did you get to the meeting? How did it go?
It’s helped me a lot so far! Not just with alcohol cravings either, it’s helped with the need to eat a ton of sugar too. I will be getting it monthly until my foundation is firm.
