CBD Usage a drug?

Would CBD be considered using a drug? asking for a friend.

Not really. Just something i thought of now. I want to stay sober as possible but I know people who are sober and use CBD. Im not trying to reset my clock, ever. and dont want to go down a path like I did before. Going on 6 days sober in 3 hours and 30 minutes from cocaine and alcohol. Last time I smoked marijauna was new years eve 5 minutes before ball drop.

Also would it show on drug tests? I got an amazing job as a senior warehouse supervisor I cant mess up. Lifes going great and I want ro continue on this path.

CBD will not show up in a drug test, and I would say it wouldn’t count as using a drug. Especially since it doesn’t show up in drug test. And you dont get high from most forms for it how would you be using it ?

CBD oil has no THC insite so it’s not a drug.
So you can’t get high of it and it doesn’t show up in a drug test. In my country it is legal and I sell it in the store I work in.

Oils more than likely. Or putting in drinks to relax me more. Ive been suggested it, but is it considered mind altering? if not wouldnt it be still though if it makes you feel better?

I cant have a mind altering substance in risk of going to the bar and relapsing. Doctors wont either, its a zero tolerance for me. Itd just be really nice to relax for me. I had some medical issues 11 years ago when I was 11 and i have some muscle pain and very slight back pain sometimes.

Its legal here too in my state. I could go get alot of cbd products at the local smoke shop.

Anything that abused and used beyond the prescribed condition is a drug. If you are asking the question, you know the answer. Like drinking. We know it but often we justify it and we are in denial, but deep down we know damn well when we are abusing it. With all my emphaty, wish you the best.

Don’t put CBD oil in your drink, it won’t mix ok. Put a few drops (depending on the strenght) in your mouth (under tongue) and keep it there for at least 1 minute before you swallow it.

Yea it is mind altering but so is coffee. So if it helps you and you feel comfortable with using it then I would say go for it. I used it in many different forms and it really helps. I used to smoke weed all the time to help with my anxiety but I quit using all drugs but when I need to I will relax with CBD

There is a tread here on TS somewere. You can find it if your search on “CBD” I guess.

Think I will try a 100mg of it to see if I can relax more on it. My main question was to see if it would show on a test. My understanding is that theres trace amounts of THC in CBD but not enough for it to be considered so.

Figured I might try it once, i wont get ir again if its not for me. I know alot of people now a days that are using it to help them with the stress and anxiety along with thoughts which I have all 3.

I’ll post an update this week yet, ill go grab some tomorrow to test its waters while I grab some food.

Does anyone have any personal experiences with CBD and staying sober?

thats the situation im in, one of them. I do drink coffee so good point. Im referring more to harder drugs like pills, cocaine and less harder drug IMO marijuana. Those things I can easily abuse. Pills not as much as what people would think jusr dont like the fact of taking them unless I absolutely have to.

I dont get any triggers from using CBD but every one is different and I loved my coke and heroin and pills and marijuana. But I love life more and I dont miss my drug days they really fucked me. So I guess you will have to really think about it if you think you can handle it the go for it I love the use of the CBD it really can help a lot if you dont want to use the oils they do have a cream the works great you just rub on the spots that are Bothering you you can always use that if you think you will get triggered from using it

Buy a good official brand. Some CBD oil tested here in the Netherlands had more THC in it then allowed! In the Netherland a good brand is “Jacob Hooy”.

My dear friends, I would like to be clear in what my point is here. I don’t want to play word games or clarify terminology. First of all, a substance coming from a natural source doesn’t make them harmless. There are poisonous plants and there are medicinal plants. Not every drug is at the pharmacy is created through chemical processes, in fact many of them needs to be extracted from the particular plant and put through a serious chemical reactions. There are completely synthetic, semi-synthetic and just naturally extracted medicines. As you could imagine this is a vast subject. Some substance coming from a plant does not mean that it is not harmful or beneficial. There is plenty of research from trusted sources and publications that you can gather much more information from. My point is that, whatever we are consuming, we develop a relationship with it and our brains respond accordingly. I am not even talking about the legality of the product. It is how we relate to it them when we consume it and how chemically powerfull it is. Most people might avoid black tea because of the caffeine content although low, it comforts me and puts me to sleep. The foundation of sobriety is honesty in my opinion. That is, being brutally honest with yourself. Then, you know if a given drug/substance/medicine is abused or not. You will know the answer. To be clear, I am not giving medical advice, merely sharing information. I am an open minded person and I know that medication can be essential to our recovery if tailored to our each, unique condition. I would be happy to answer any questions to my best knowledge. All the best.

Yes I used it in my first weeks to get my sleep. It works for me. Nowdays I use it when I’m having a stressful day.

thanks for the words, thats a greaf way to think about it. Appreciated!

Very excellent words!!

Chemical vs natural is a huge pet peeve of mine. Snake venom is natural, water is a chemical…

For me it isn’t the substance that matters but how/why it is used. So many things can be used as a tool to help us with our recovery and that is amazing but anytime you use something as a way to avoid recovery it is a problem. No one would ever deny that exercise is a bad thing and going out for a run or lifting weights when you are having a rough day can be GREAT for helping you get mental strength as well as physical strength. But if someone spent all day everyday at the gym just to avoid temptations of drinking or using then I think it would be a problem. We don’t want to avoid our internal struggles, we want to work through them.

So I think CBD can be useful if you are dealing with anxiety that could trigger substance abuse but make sure you are using it for the right reasons. Maybe talk to your doctor about it to make sure it is right for you.

CBD is not psychoactive and is not physically addictive. While the benefits are still a subject of debate, the harmlessness is not.

In theory however, people get get addicted to anything. Running, working out, religion etc. In the US CBD was miss classified because of its relationship to THC. So was hemp. You could smoke a pound of hemp and all you will get is a headache. It is believed that DuPont was a major force behind the ban of hemp because it was a threat to their bottom line.

THC is a much different story and for anyone struggling with addiction from hard substances should be used with caution. Indica and Sativa have different affects and if not cautious you could be setting yourself up or simply replacing a hard drug for a mild drug, which for some had proven affective in killing their dependence on alcohol. But I stress, if you are using THC to simply stay high all of the time then I think you know the answer to that. So CBD, nothing wrong with that and it may everyone prove to just be a placebo. THC, should be used with caution and will depend on the circumstances of the person. Like many said in here and I agree, anything can become a drug depending on why you are doing it; running, lifting, eating, cutting, porn etc. Fortunately, CBD is like Hemp, you are not going to get high, and again, the results may be attributed to the placebo effect. I used a great CBD salve topical for my arthritis. Rubbing it on my joints seemed to help considerably with the pain and replaced indomethacin, an anti inflammatory that was killing my stomach.
