I’d hate to say it’s impossible but it’s highly unlikely.

Checking in day 5

Today I need to take steps forward. I weathered an incredible amount the past 72 hours. I’m proud of it but it still leaves me sad in the wake of the aftermath. I just know picking up isn’t going to fix the pain and sadness. Rebuilding after the destruction will.

Thanks for your words of encouragement. Whatever happens, I’ll get through it.
I totally get what you’re saying about using all your tools to stay sober. I have a few bad habits, like overspending and isolating, as well.
I was just saying yesterday that it’s so easy to indulge in other bad behaviors, so long as we don’t relapse. Like, we have this ultimate excuse.
It’s pretty great that you see the behaviors for what they are though. I need to work on that.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.
I hope you’re right.
Honestly, I don’t feel strong at all, so I’m pouring myself into meetings and making sure I’m not alone. This is the first time, in a long time, when being sober doesn’t bring me any joy.

I know you guys have my back.

12 days on the counter!

It’s almost been two weeks.

I’m beginning to feel the burden lift.

I’ve been carrying addictive behaviors like a boulder on my back for so long.

I’m adjusting to the lightened load.

Everyday I get to decide whether I’m going bear the burden or let it remain.

Today it is staying in the dirt! :+1:

Ill write some more in a little while, but I was in a very similar situation as you. I now have 2 kids. You almost described my thoughts to a T before kids. I have zero regrets though.
When I’m on my lunch break I’ll put more down.
