Congratulations James, well done and on your way to the 1 year mark!
Welcome @Vintage, I’m Dutch too and there are more Dutchies here 🙋 Your English looks fine to me, don’t worry! Als je in het Nederland wil praten, of iets wil vragen mag je me altijd een privé berichtje sturen hoor
Thank you very much @siand. Yesterday at work I felt a bit better during the day. Like I felt less heavy (I’m a skinny woman ), but felt massive like a elephant in weight the last 2 weeks…
So hope this feeling improves.
Day 383
Like I allready shared with Siand I feel a bit better, thank God! Maybe it’s the daylight lamp who helped ore the 5-htp supplement or just time. It doesn’t matter. Hope this continious.
@ifs James that’s wonderful. Congratulations on your 11months @KevinesKay Congratulations on your 200 days @keiti I saw it somewhere a while ago that you have triple digits. So wonderful. Congratulations as well!!!
Checking in only on day 3 again. But I’m here. Fighting. Doing the 30 day experiment and finally reading the book this naked mind. Both are great experiences and I wonder why I only started the book months ago and never continued…
Coffee. Have to around town a couple of times, do some stuff for my friend in hospital and her daughter, get my keys to the guy that will watch after my house and cat while I’m on holidays, visit another friend that I haven’t had time for because of the illness of the first one, prepare myself for traveling Tuesday morning (not packing yet though). Thanks god it’s dry this morning. Yesterday was pretty intense, cycling about 30 miles in the pouring Anyway, love that’s it’s Saturday and I’m not totally sick from last nights bender. Have a great sober and clean weekend all! Sober love from Amsterdam.
@SoberWalker Keep improving lady. It’s been very grey outside for the last days. Early autumn and pretty intense. Doesn’t help with my mood either. Just put on my lamp again. @ifs Congrats James! @KevinesKay 200! Awesome! @Quitter02 Yay you KAL! Enjoy the rest of the festival! @Vintage Welkom! And congrats on 8 days! Your English indeed is better than many Americans I see here
Day 19 checking in. Went to a 7 am meeting. I’m at step 3 but as a staunch atheist (the kind that resolutely believes we are spinning on a rock in space and nothing more) I’m really struggling to move past it. If anyone has any input, I’d love to hear it.
Good for you @KevinesKay beautiful numbers Don’t be so harsh on yourself. Tap your shoulder and say “atta boy” (I just learned this nice expression here)
Where are you going for holiday Menno? Hope it’s better weather overthere for you. Tomorrow I play all day outside with “my” band during a running competition. Chance of rain: 90%
I’m with you on the non-believing part and I can’t even get to step two. Been given lots of alternatives to God as Higher Power, talked to other non-believers and heard 100 shares about the subject. It doesn’t work for me. Haven’t been to a (NA) meeting for a week now. I have gotten in to SMART online, talking on FB and doing some video courses there. It speaks much more to me but there are no live meetings in this country. And I do miss those. No other secular meetings either, except for one Dutch one I will attend this Monday. I like the look of Lifering https://www.lifering.org/ , SOS sobriety http://www.sossobriety.org/ might be something to for secular recovery groups. Both aren’t present in the Netherlands and neither is SMART.
There is at least one NA meeting I really like and i want to go back, but i feel like a fraud if I don’t work the steps and adhere to the program… So quite the dilemma for me too Kipper.
Day 218
Yep…awake at 3am again. But I am falling asleep well before midnight lately. And after 7 months, I’m still happy to be up at odd hours and not scouring the place for leftover drinks, or annoyed by restless legs and guilty anxiety.
I’ll definitely take that as a big win!
I do nothing specific to my old alcohol/drug problem other than this app, considering whether I need to continue using the app as it is the only thing that really puts alcohol/drugs in my head, the only reminder. I just feel like someone who has never drank or taken drugs. I know I was never an addict, and I certainly dont have a lifelong disease, I drank and took drugs to escape life problems, it was easier than facing them head on. Something to think about …
16 Days (wish i could do longer) equally divided between Colorado and Texas Buts. Been dreaming of travelling the US for decades and in the last couple of years making it come true with money saved from not smoking (and not drinking now too). Pic is Big Bend NP TX in 2017 on my first US trip. In the Dam-tot-Dam loop the big drummers always are inside the IJtunnel. Great sound and always dry Success!
Wow! That looks great Menno! I was in the USA for 4 weeks 22 years ago. Travelled around California, Utah, New Mexico, it was my best holiday ever! When do you leave?
Nice one James. Good to see you just behind me on this journey. Watch out for the pebbles mate, I’ve stumbled over a couple.
Keep being you cus your great!
@KevinesKay, Kevin!! 200 days. Man this is great. Really is good to see. Don’t worry too much about slipping on your goals a little. But you have recognised what’s happening, so gives you the incentive to step up a little.
Keep it up .
