Happy Friday. Yes, I started over after giving in. Knew I had surgery coming up n needed to be in best shape. So I started biking daily, 10 - 30 miles a day n ridding my body of all toxins. Then Aug.10th had back surgery hospital, rehab etc. Couple weeks… Came home with opiods ( oxy) to kill pain. Took 1 every12 hours then, once prescription was done, one week, i told Dr.no.more. still have percocet, take one maybe every 7 hrs. Was determined to rebuild slowly as im doing n keeping alcohol, drug free. Already been to a couple of get togethers with friends where most were indulging. But I happily abstained. N thankful for few friends that do not drink. Recovery from surgery is gonna be long n still very painful, but getting myself drunk, stoned to stay numb is not something I want in my life. I make a decision every day to get out of bed, knowing it’ll be painful n make the most of my day. Which includes physical therapy n i make sure to add lots of walking, as much as i can. Looking forward to Sunday, giving my daughter in law a break n taking the little ones out to NYC, Central Park.

Aw. You poor thing. It is tough work and not the nicest. I did 35 years of it. It ain’t easy and not everyone is cut out for it. But it is a great experience. I always thought everyone should have to be in the food and beverage service for a year for life experience. :joy: so many assholes. I actually thrived on it though. Of course that’s how my drug addiction took a great hold of me long long time ago. Look at all you learned though. Rest easy on everything you’ve learned about yourself tonight and give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done. And get that Uni education so you don’t end up a restaurant bum like I did.

It is a 4 day weekend from today. My kids have various plans, and I also have various plans for extra study for them, which I’m sure they’ll appreciate😂. Now work has started properly I am trying to keep some me-time so I am reading a novel I got months or years ago that I never read. It has some really beautiful language “decisions are shards of the bombs of previous actions”. But I think if we know those shards are coming, we can put up a shield and make our own decisions based on logic or the current situation.

Day 81.
Guess who has 284 days more than me? @Lisa07 does! Happy one year of sobriety! I hope you are doing something special to mark it. And then we’ll go to @anon79808082 's house party, DJ’d and all!
A doozy of a week, but all good. I made it to friday, walked the dog girl through the sunny forest that smells like fall, and realized I had forgotten to have any cravings today…
Best.feeling.ever.
Thank you all for sharing another day - big love to all :orange_heart:

Dear Mr. Moose,

I sure wish we could have met - you sound like my kind of dog. I loved stick collecting and swimming too when I was younger. Man, some days I still think I could go all day!

I hear you’re having a tough time. I hear Courtney is having a tough time too - it’s so hard to watch our humans suffer, hey? And there’s really nothing we can do or say to make them know exactly what we want to tell them, but surely they must have some idea how much we love them.

I just wish we had some way of letting them know that we’re okay with going when it’s our time to go. Whenever it’s your time, Moose, they’ll need to let go – all those humans who love you, and even your dog friends too, and it’ll feel like the hardest thing in the world for them. (M tears up as I dictate this to her now…)

Until you and I meet in some otherworldly dog park (let’s not start any debates on this thread, but it’s a nice thought), one without a fence that surrounds it, one with amazing smells, stations of fresh cold water and bottomless treat jars, a swimming hole, prey – birds, bunnies, cats - to chase (but maybe not catch), until then – enjoy every moment with your people and love them up huge.

You know, all those bipeds with opposable thumbs who type messages to each other at all times of day on some “forum” (I’ll never get it), they will be there for Courtney – rest assured.
xo :paw_prints: dog girl (and M)
